I just had a nice massage at a gay massage place in Jomtien Complex. I guess it's not kosher to name the place, but it's near Dick's Cafe and the boys wear white shorts.

The massage was good, but when I went to retrieve my clothing out of the "locked" locker, I discovered my wallet had somehow migrated from my right rear pocket to the front left pocket, in with my cell phone. I had (stupidly it turns out) hit the ATM before my massage, and when I discovered my wallet in the wrong pocket, I checked the money and found 2000 baht missing (at least, maybe more, but I hadn't counted for sure before I went in there).

Of course, the proprietor denied that there was another key to the locker, and he was adamant that money could not have gone missing. I paid, tipped the boy, and left.

Now, here I am, really annoyed and feeling stupid.

If you go to that place, be careful, they aren't a "nice" as they would like you to think.

I prefer the massage places where your clothes stay in the room WITH YOU. Not in some remote locker location.

My wallet, watch and mobile phone always go into the massage room with me. I never leave them in the locker. I always assume there is another key.

BTW, take a zip-lock plastic bag and wallet, watch and mobile stay dry in the shower as well.

The boys also wear purple tank tops in this particular place.

Good advice Joe. I'll of course not darken the doorstep of this place again, but when I do venture into the massage world next time, I'll take a ziploc bag with me.

for sure.

With all those decriptions why wont you name the place and save us less knowledgeable people from being robbed?
Is it Derby Mens Club or Duo House?
If jimnbkk doesnt tell us, does anyone else know from the description of the clothes worn?

A consequence of this post is to point out the advantage of a massage establishment, which has showers set in the actual massage rooms.

This seems reasonably common in Bangkok; I can think of four places where I know this to be the case from personal experience (blush).
My expertise on this topic is more limited in Pattaya, but I do know two places where showers are not located in the rooms.

Certainly I would feel safer when my possessions remain with me in the same room.
Do any massage houses in Pattaya offer this facility?

might be fun to
bring your OWN padlock
and annoy them

but they would still get your business.

just purchased an infrared illuminated
camera and receiver for a recurring "tire problem"

better to have them on tape i think

Good god man!! Ask 'em for a massage and then ask 'em politely to make sure your things are safe.

Cheers ...

The guys at Ritt's will make sure your things stay safe if you ask them. Of course, you could always keep your things next to you during the massage.

yeah, and then I will post how my laptop and phone was stolen at the beach. You guys will ask me what I did to protect them and I will say I asked a strange guy to keep them safe for me while I nap on a blanket as I get a message..... :geek:

Duo. It was Duo. And I thought my masseur was not involved at first because he was with me all the time. But, later I realized he had a conversation with someone outside the room as we were getting started with the massage. Could have been something along the line "...well, the old coot is naked and horizontal now, go for it!!!....."

GREAT AT LAST WE KNOW WHICH ESTABLISHMENT.
SO AVOID DUO, AND TELL YOUR MATES,,,,

Thanks jimnbkk for this.

Cool.
Boycott DUO!
Now they will have to go out of business.
I mean they will have to change their shirt colors and business name.
Best to bring a fanny pack kind of thing and take to the massage site. There is an old Yiddish saying, "they took me to the baths" meaning they got you naked and ripped you off.

Hmmmm, I have used one of those to take down a swelling but to return to the topic why not simply take with you only the barest minimum in terms of cash and leave the rest at home?
I think some kind of small clutch bag would be in order www.net-a-porter.com/Shop/Judith-Leiber?cm_mmc=Yahoo-Overture-_-UK-_-judith+leiber-_-judith+leiber (http://www.net-a-porter.com/Shop/Judith-Leiber?cm_mmc=Yahoo-Overture-_-UK-_-judith+leiber-_-judith+leiber)

Was 2 times there and every time somebody was in my locker but with no luck because i always have extra bag and take it with me. I knew because always my t-shirt and shorts have been changed. Always when alone i put wallet and passport(in zipbag) in big towel and have it under my head during massage. Was funny - after massage - they have been looking very curious how i will pay. Was in 2006. Looking in the eyes i knew they are guilty. And also every time before starting massage the boy was shortly speaking with somebody behind the wall.

In these establishment, you go in the room, sometimes the boy undresses you and asks you to take shower first while he fold or hang your cloth. There is still a chance your money can be stolen during this time.
