I was searching for a thread where I had previously discussed the diet pills Reduce-15 and found one reference in a thread I started about
a boy in the Army.. Well, there are some updates and here goes...

First the army boy returned a couple of months ago and got a 3 month hardship leave as mama was sick and he needed to earn some baht..
He returns in a few weeks and we have established a relationship of sorts and I am very pleased with how things worked out.. He is working
by the way and has his own place and I see him a couple or three times a week..

Second, the slimming pill Reduce-15 (Indian made generic of Sibutramine Hydrochloride Monohydrate-15mg) was very effective for me and I ended up losing over 20 kilos and keeping it off..That is until about a monthago when I resumed eating the delicious pastries offered at Jomtien, chocolate bars, lots of beer, and farang food including all kinds of potatoes and massive portions of meat.. A couple of days ago, I noticed one pair of shorts was tight at the waist and some of my regulars have been commenting with the pum puey finger poking... Sure enough, I regained about 6 kilos at a pace of about 1.5 k. a week ..
This was distressing and my appetite was roaring and demanding to be paid attention to..

So, I decided to go back on the pill and bought some more Reduce-15.. It is three days later and I am back in control and the cravings are back in
check.. I was off the pills since early July and able to maintain the weight loss for several weeks but then starting the slippage..
I am fortunate the pills work for me as many friends have tried them and had side effects or no effects, so it is not a miracle but can be a great aid
for motivated fat-men.. more info on this if you do a search in this forum...

Thanks for the follow-up on this -- it sounds very interesting! Two questions:

1. Were you able to find a chemist in Jomtien who sells this? and
2. Does this medication have any kind of stimulants (ie. any risk of not being able to sleep)?

I've lost 5 kg in the last 3 weeks -- mostly by drinking a lot more water (especially before meals), and increasing veggies while decreasing meat, but I still have times where it is difficult not to over-indulge, simply because I feel so hungry. The medication you mention sounds like it could be very helpful!

I googled Sibutramine Hydrochloride Monohydrate and the medical reports suggested AYOR . There are side effects and is extremely dangerous if used without medical supervision and prescribing.

Just this week(may 2006) Melbourne newspapers carried a negative article citing the side effects

Lots of us overweight people also have high BP. Sounds dangerous. Definitely need to see a doc about this one before trying.

Your so right. Those of you trying "slimming pills" are playing with fire.
There is ONLY ONE way to slim (apart from stomach tuck surgery) - EAT LESS AND EXERCISE MORE.

You are deluding yourself if you think anything else is going to provide a permanent solution to excess weight!

Well, duh, dear. But pills such as the ones under discussion HELP one to eat less by dulling hunger pangs.

That may well be so. But are these pills being prescribed or being taken on doctor's advice?

The point being made is these pills can have side effects which vary from person to person. The "Cat" seems to be lucky as he says they have worked for him and he has not mentioned side effects. Anyone with hypertension (high BP), Type II diabetes or other age-related illnesses is foolish in the extreme to take these sorts of pills without a doctor's approval - (the same goes for Viagra which have I seen some people in Pattaya taking like Smarties or M and Ms, without doctor's approval).

i wouldnt want a poof giving me a prostrate examination.

You illiterate Aussie, I am assuming that you mean prostate not prostrate.
The only prostate examination I would give you would be with a 10 inch dildo. But on second thoughts that would not work as it probably wouldn't even touch the sides. :bootyshake:

The biggest contributor to being overweight (the obesity epidemic) is a lack of physical activity. Food is second. If you want to loose weight, keep weight off or prevent weight gain you need to move that body. Sitting in front of the TV/computer/gogo stage doesn't achieve a thing exercise wise. Exercise doesn't have to be vigorous to be effective for weight management either. Walking 30 minutes a day every day is all you need. And that can be split into two 15 minute episodes of walking. Eating energy dense foods high in fat and or sugar (cakes, biscuits, pastries, pizza, fish n chips, pies, fried rice, and fast foods) is a big factor as well.

Unfortunately it appears evolution has not equipped our bodies with the ability to recognise the amount of calories we've eaten, and then to compensate for any excess calories by reducing the amount we eat at the next meal. Our bodies recognise the volume we've eaten, and some of the food groups, but not the calories. For example, it's really hard to eat six apples in a row. The volume of six apples is quite a lot. Yet the amount of calories in six apples is about equal to 2 slices of Pizza Hut's large pan-fried Super Supreme pizza. And two slices of this, volume wise, is not at all difficult to eat. Eat energy dense foods while doing sedentary activities like watching TV or surfing the net and you will gain weight, your body has no option.

To maintain weight the amount of energy we use must equal the amount of energy we eat. If we consume more energy than we use, we'll gain weight. We all know that. Physical activity consumes energy, which is why it's so important in weight management. The collapse in physical activity that has taken place in the West over the last 20-30 years means that most of us end up in a positive energy balance gaining weight, hence the obesity epidemic. Combined with our increased consumption of energy dense food, and we're getting fatter and fatter. The obesity epidemic has now reached urban China. I won't bore you with my recollections of mainland China in 1981, but anyone who knows the China then and the China now, also knows that there has been a steep decline in physical activity among the middle class urban Chinese, especially among the children, and their obesity rates have jumped as a consequence.

To loose weight we have to tip our energy scale into a negative energy balance. Unfortunately in this obesogenic environment that we now live in that's extremely hard to do. But if you really want to loose weight, get moving. It's the best place to start. Movement gives health benefits better than any pill will too. And eat more foods that grow that way (like the Thai). Remember there's no such thing as the Mars Bar tree, or the pastry shrub, so don't eat them so much.

I updated an early thread as often posters tell us something of interest and never get back to tell us the final results...
I used the drug for 5 or 6 months and was very satisfied with the results as I had tried other drugs, low carbs dieting,
exercising and found myself gaining weight and reaching new girths..
After the drug which prevents some of the fat from getting absorbed (Xenical?), made me miserable, I went to the pharmacist
and he suggested I try the Siutramine Hydrochloride Monohydrate...It comes in generic pills from India at varying prices and the
original is quite expensive in the USA.. He showed me the warnings and asked me some basic questions.. I researched it on line
and decided to take a chance.. My experience was positive and friends noticed the difference and tried the drug and had no success..
some had headaches or other side effects..
It works as an appetite suppressant and when effective helps motivated dieters from binging and overeating.. I feel sated after eating
part of my meal and can stop eating before I finish every crumb.. When I started to see the kilos coming off, I felt very motivated and
increased my physical movements, walked much more etc. and was able to avoid foods I craved before including pastries, breads,
french fries, chocolate candy and pizza..
I was concerned about what would happen when I stopped taking the pills and the pharmacist said I could start taking them again if the weight
started increasing, exercise more, etc.. Well, after a month or two of maintaining or keeping within a kilo or two, I started eating as before
and the weight started coming back on quickly and my appetite was very strong..
Of course, see a doctor, do research, but if everything else has failed and you are frustrated and need help, it may be worth a try..good luck..
