any skype users in here ? years ago when I still lived in Europe, I loved to talk to my friends (and my first Asian BF from Borneo, of course) around the world and other interesting people on phone, was so dead-cheap using those numerous private phone companies, calling malaysia 2,5 Euro Cent a minute, Thailand 4 Cent, Indo 6 Cent..... unfortunately, its not that cheap in LOS.... okay I know there are those callin cards, but the quality suxxx big time...
skype call quality is great, called as friend in my home country few days ago, we were talking for 2 hours and the quality was excellent, as if he sits next to me..... much better than any phone line.... and not interrupted at all.
so, if any decent people like to talk, then add me to ur list. my nick there is - surprise surprise - ASIAWOLFIE ......

oh, one thing, dont buy Credits from skype for calling regular phones, they have big problems and I got cheated as well and lost 9,90 Euro of my credits after upgraded to the latest version...... the credits are still there but can not be used, for what reason ever.....

please post ur SKYPE - NICK here as a reply to the thread, identify urself.... and lets blablablachitchatchitchat.... ;-)

and all my phone call costs have come to $8.

Unfortunately it's not yet available for in-calls into Aust yet ( except for other skype users) unless one gets a US number but will be within 6 months.

your right..you can't get refunds but you can buy credit for as low as $9 to start. Calls to regular phones have been fine for me..in fact the clarity is so good it's a bit off putting as you are so used to normal telephone quality.

This surely will spell the end of big telco companies.

Apart from allowing you to call computer-to-landline, what other advantages does Skype offer beyond what programs such as Yahoo Messenger and MSN do?

Just one thing makes it better, the sound quality is superb compared to Yahoo or MSN.

Thanks, I'll give it a try.

A friend of mine from Taiwan actually turned me onto it well over a year and a half ago. I am floored by the quality of the communication to a landline connection through my pc when using it via a smooth broadband connection like cable.

You can find me on there as sfphoenixrising.

Just please, if you do want to add me, can you include some information about yourself and why you want me to add you. I've a scary feeling that some evil spammer lurks within the darkness of cyberspace just waiting to get his or her grubby hands on my IDs in order to innundate me with viagra ads and millionaire scams :geek:

There is also sme nice hardware available, such as the dual phone. This is a cordless phone with up to 4 handsets that connects to both a landline and skype, so you can use the same handset for all calls. Can even dial skype from the handset, don't need to be near the pc

You just go to your profile and enter your Skype name in the provided space and it puts a Skype button on all of your posts down by the weblog, pm and email buttons. Clicking on someone's Skype button opens a window to Skype that person a message.
