View Full Version : Great that SGT is back!

August 26th, 2006, 10:24
I thought I was falling into some sort of depression when I realised that this site was going off for good. It sure is nice to see this site back and one never fully realise what you gonna miss when its up and running. I am not one of those who post regularly but I do log in nearly everyday to read what's going on and always enjoy a good humour at the occasional bickering among the posters. So, I am sure I am not the only one who misses Sawatdee Gay Thailand. Welcome back once again.

Like many others. I'm a daily reader who doesn't contribute much by way of posting. Nonetheless, great to have the board back. I've missed it.

Nice thoughts from both of you for the Owner who obviously is in early stage Alzheimers.

But why not post more? This place is infested by the same geriatric sexoholics, child molesters, car salesmen, neurotic hydrahead conspiracy theorists, Pradiphat Rd porno theatre denizens, senile fraidy-cats, and Fat Bald Old Cunts who've been posting for the last few millenia. New blood would be a sip of fresh, well, eh, ... blood!

Cheers ... :geek:

To how many of those clubs do you belong, Miss Smiles?

And directions to the theatre, please. What is the nearest BTS stop?

How do you keep a Fat Bald Old Cunt out of the theatre?
[You can't; it's in her blood. But you might try taking away her knee-pads.]

Okay here you go.

Glad that this board is back, I check this board daily and pick on some threads which have my interest. I might have posted once before, but that's it.
Mostly the discussions here are about barboys and go-go clubs, something I'm not familiar with. However I still find it good fun to visit this board.

Well Sjaak, that's a mouthful, but I guess all the boys say that to you! Just because most of the discussions are about barboys and go-go clubs, with which you are not familiar, doesn't mean that threads on other topics are not welcome. Actually the posts that are about people's personal experiences and their engaging with Thailand are some of the most interesting. Trust me, I open my heart occasionally, expecting to be flamed, and have been warmed by the generosity of the responses.

Smiles may we take that literally? Is Alzheimer's what befell Spike? It is a terrifying illness, leaving much shock and devastation in it's path.

If that was just a clever remark then ok, what fools we have been, a simple little forgetfulness, I am delighted Spike is not in prison, has not been killed in road rage or left like road kill, that he has had no major traumas of any sort and he is back with us as our ubber tolerant and sensible moderator.

Cedric, perhaps if you had bothered to read the posts by Elephantspike regarding his incommunicadoness and the temporary shutting down of this Board you would have already surmised that my post was tongue-in-cheek.
But no ...
Typical of you.

And yes ... I know all about Alzheimers ~ intimately, and don't need amateur bleeding hearts to educate me further.

Same-same with me. I've lived in Thailand six years now, the last 1.5 of them in Jomtien, but you can count on one hand (the one that's not busy) the number of times I've gone to go-go bars by myself, and maybe another 3 or 4 times per year to take visiting tourist to see "the sights". BUT... that has not stopped me from posting on many other topics. I should be hitting 500 posts pretty soon. And, I've only received one nasty-gram in my personal inbox the whole time! (And, several helpful/interesting private messages in my personal inbox.)

So, jump in, the water's fine!

Smiles, I just thought, well you know what with the average age of posters here, well, in my own little respectful way, I was concerned that perhaps Alzheimer's was indeed the real cause of Spikes loosing control of his cheque signing finger.
No need to go stark raving bonkers.

Besides I know quite alot about Alzheimer's, as my own dearest and lost arri├иre-grand-p├иre, is suffering badly from it, though if he is truly suffering, as he motors to town on the lawn-mower dressed only in his skants, I realy can't say.

Gosh Smiles, with an unnecessarily obtuse response like that to Cedric, perhaps you really do need a bit of time out and a vacation!

While I am absolutely thrilled that the board is back up and running and are happy to learn that Spike is ok, quite frankly I find his explanation as to why the board went off line to be totally unconvincing.

Now while I consider the real underlying reasons for why that happened to be entirely Spike's business and he is under no obligation to share that with us - if he wishes to keep those private to himself more power to him - but let's not try to be naive or disingenuous at the same time. If Spike had not been AWOL for weeks prior to the board going offline, (even Jinks couldn't get in contact him) I put it to you that few of us would have being overly alarmed. We would have realised that it was nothing more than a simple oversight of not paying a bill on time - something weтАЩve all done in our own lives - and Spike, being engaged and actively running the board would have paid the bill straight away. The board would have being back on line within 24-48 hours and no doubt an embarrassed Spike would have been offering his profound apologies to all and sundry and receiving a fair amount of ribbing in return.

But that is not what happened. The board was off line for a number of days, Spike had disappeared, jinks could not contact him, and his phone had been disconnected. What are we suppose to think? Hmmmm?

Again I just want to repeat that I am really happy Spike is back, he does a fantastic job with and for this board and we all need to celebrate and affirm him for that. And I hope that everything is alright for him, but quite frankly I'm not sure it is, I am concerned for him and it's my fucking right to say so!

oh ya, I am from the same section of our beautiful little community, thanks god I am not alone........ Asia is too big to spend all the time in Pattaya, though I nevertheless enjoy a weekend there once in a while.... and love to browse the board and sometimes even post on non-barboy and non-bestcheeseburgerinpattaya related topics....
greetings from lovely BORNEO..... too bad in 3 hours my pleasant trip to this friendly and beautiful place will be history already....

Will do.

Anyway just to make myself clear, I have nothing against barboys or go-go clubs. In fact since I met my Lao boyfriend we go to a go-go club once every holiday, just to see the show, but after the show finishes we are out again. I do like bars like telephone, just to have a drink and a chat.

I have been to thailand about 9 times now, and the first 4 times, I never ever dated or slept with a Thai boy or girl. Only on my 5th visit I met my boyfriend, who is a cook and who is from Laos. I met him at his workplace at Sukhumvit soi 22, and we slept together and later he took some time off to be with me. After that first week, I thought this is a holiday romance, which will not last long. But after more then 2 years and 4 holidays later, it is still going strong.

Since I met him, the frequency of trips to Thailand/Laos have been twice a year. And I'm very glad and happy that his 3 months tourist visa was approved in 25 hours ! He will be joining me in the Netherlands on october 1st. It will of course be a big chance for the both of us, for him it will be a total culture shock, not to mention the change from living in Bangkok (thonglor), to a relatively small village in the Netherlands. For me it will also be a big change, since I'm single all my life (I'm 35) and now I will have someone waiting for me for at least 3 months. He will be going on a Dutch language course, and if he likes it in my home country, I will get him another three months visa in August next year. We are also thinking on a longer visa but the rules for that are strict. Before that is considered he needs to pass an exam, which involves some Dutch language skills. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Thank you for that story, sjaak - there's always space for personal sharing like yours. It helps to balance out some of the flotsam and jetsam that can get pretty thick around here!

After reading your story I thought to myself "how strange it will be for him to be in a Dutch village instead of LOS," but almost at the same moment it came to me that it'd be a lot the same as you being parked for a few months in a viilage 40 Km outside of Luang Prabang. I guess it's all from our own points of reference. At any rate, it's wonderful that he's getting that opportunity and I certainly hope he does well there.

Keep us updated with whatever you're comfortable sharing. It's a dream of mine to visit the Netherlands some day, also. I'll be looking for your posts!

Hey...baziel, where have you been lately. I thought you fell off the face of the earth.

August 28th, 2006, 07:35
Sjaak what little village do you come from in the Netherlands?
You can start a Laotian restaurant, it is sure to do well. I know three people who have done very well in the catering sector there. They live in Amsterdam. One was a Thai girl who couldn't speak a word of English or Dutch, but did very well with her partner running a tiny little Thai restaurant. The others also good cooks, got excellent jobs also in quality Thai restaurants, one on Munt plein and the other in het Jordaan. I suppose there are many more Thai restaurants now, but Laotian ones must be thin in the ground.

Groetjies and good luck.

I'm from the eastern part of the Netherlands (near Nijmegen). Anyway I have no intention to start anything in the catering business, I'm in the IT business. Also my boyfriend won't be allowed to work whilst being in the Netherlands on a tourist visa. Of course when he would apply for a longer stay, that would also enbale him to seek employment, I'm sure he will be able to work in a restaurant.

Oh yeah you are so right. I visit and stayed at his parents, they are living in a little village along route 13, about 20 minutes from Thakaek (opposite Nakhom Phanom). Of course I just stayed there for a few nights, because it would be a little too quiet for my taste. Great experience though, we had a "marriage" ceremony there last time. Not something that I would want, but my Boyfriend really wanted this, so I did it for his sake. It was kind of special, and of course a party with a great beer which is Beer Lao, is always welcome.
