When opening this website on certain mobile devices, the site opens in some useless vBulletin mobile format. It's then necessary to select a "Open in desktop mode" or "view full site option".
I've seen this on certain Apple and Android devices.

Is there any way users or Moses can fix this so it defaults to the proper site?

I've tried various options, without much success.

Site is working as it should work: it offers mobile "skin" for mobile devices. Isn't it logical?

You should choose your default "skin" in settings. There are 7 "skins" for desktops and 11 for mobile devices. If you don't choose your preferred "skin", then server offers random option.
