In a grotesque and politically insensitive move, Russian-born, American-based gay porn star and producer Michael Lucas is heading to Israel to perform a live sex show to entertain Israeli soldiers.

He is also plans to film the first Israeli gay adult film. He has not yet announced a plan to make Lebanese gay porn.

"I am very proud to be going to my home away from home and entertain gay Israelis in a time of war," he says in his blog.

An outspoken and controversial gay celebrity, he has been avid advocate for safe-sex and anti-drug campaigns in the gay community.

He has recently joined the political arena slamming UN leader Kofi Annan calling him "the enemy of Israel and not a friend of the United States. He is a corrupt anti-Semite."

Despite the implications of a self-serving publicity stunt, especially considering the politically delicate atmosphere in the region, some may wonder from the perspective of those gay Israeli youths obligated to enlist, regardless of sexual orientation - why shouldn't the gay soldiers be allowed to watch live gay sex?

If their hetero counterparts can be entertained by busty babes, surely the gays should be allowed to be entertained by hung hunks.

The vocal porn star, who readily admits "I do not bottom either on camera or in my private life", is allegedly loved by proud Republican country singer Lee Ann Womack and Jersey Republican Babe of the Week Angie Harmon.

In his insightful blog Lucas writes:

And what did that have to do with Israelis, bigot?

Oh dear, not only is one of our contributors ignorant of what the word "bigotry" means, he is failing to keep up-to date with this board. Only a week ago I explained in some detail on the "Glad to be gay" thread the connection between Abu Ghraib and Israel, something that received some attention when the scandal was first revealed. Not on Fox News of course.
Rather than repeating what I wrote verbatim, here is a precis.
1) use of sexual abuse when torturing prisoners
2) the rape of the Iraqi boy in Abu Ghraib by "interpreters" with Israeli passports.
3) the reported comments of Kipinski (the commandant who was sacked) about Israeli practices being the problem in the prison.

I could, of course, expound at some length about the huge number of Israeli "advisors" who were with the US when it invaded Iraq, the training of US troops in Israel before the invasion and the formidable power of AIPAC and other bigots (note the correct usage of the word) that led to the invasion.
But I won't.

Nelson: Thanks for that other thread. The rape at Abu Ghraib was caught on tape yes? I assume US didn't release that one? I'd really like more info on that case. Happen to know if anyone has filed a FOIA request on that?

I take particular exception to the lie that all Jews support Zionist fanaticism, just as I object to the rightwing evengelical poison that equates it to Christianity. Anyone who knows about civil rights in the US and South Africa knows how important the contributions of Jews were in the struggles..
When I am in Palestine and confronting the horrors of the Zionist (and US-backed) Occupation, I am, I'm afraid, a coward. I don't stand in front of tanks and I don't act as a human shield- I'm just not brave enough.The heroic Israelis in groups such as Bet'selem and Gush Shalom, who work with human rights supporters in Palestine, display a courage and compassion that embarrasses me. I can return to the UK when it gets too hot; they live in Israel and remain part of the struggle every day of their lives. I can tell you that they treat with contempt the attempts of some to portray a struggle for human rights in the simplistic terms of religious conflict.
The film of the rape (I'm not sure if it was only one) by -allegedly- an interpreter whose name I have , and who has dual Australian and Israeli citizenship, was shown to Rumsfeld in the second batch of Abu Ghraib atrocities, and subsequently to some members of Congress. I believe it was made by a female US soldier.
It has not been shown on TV here but its existence- and the naming of two "interpreters" - was reported in the UK press. I suspect that one day it will be shown.
