I think it is a great opportunity for gay entrepreneurs to expand the amount of venues and replace Thailand as the Asian gay place to go.

I've had heaps of fun both in Phenom Pehn and Siem Reap.

In PP I always stay at Arthur and Paul Hotel. It's awesome - it has a dark room and sauna in the garden next to the pool. It's a bit out of the way but is conveniently located around the corner from Blue Hatha massage. It's then a nice cool tuk-tuk trip around dusk into town for dinner, followed by a night of fun at Space Bar.

If I didn't have 2 regular guys waiting for me in Thailand I'd spend more time in Cambodia.

Hopefully, this will put pressure on Thailand to open it's bars and entertainment venues sooner rather than later.

Are the bars actually open in Cambodia now ?
Particularly Toolbox, which was the one Phnom Penh bar I'd be keen to return to.

The two main objections people raise about going to Thailand are entry rules and bar closures. So it makes sense to look at both for Cambodia.

Yes. I went to a new place POC (Pride of Cambodia, or rather moved to a new location after old location being closed due to Covid). Other activities picking up as well (pedestrians and road traffic, bars, restaurants). Other gay places I will check some day.

Cambodia has opened all land borders, but her neighbor's land borders are not open yet.

Hi all.. thinking of going to Cambodia for a week in late December. Already cancelled my tickets to Thailand. Any chance to confirm that the $2k deposit is gone? What about proof of covid insurance? I also ready there may need to be a ‘reason’ when applying for visa. Not sure if it’s fake news?

I'm in Cambodia now, but I don't know about the current entry requirements.

Must do e visa online, must have proof of 2 doses of vaccine last dose must be done at least 14 days prior to arrival, upon arrival you will be given at no cost a quick antigen test wait approx.15 minutes, only reason needed for e visa is tourist, no more $2000 USD deposit, No quarantine unless airport test is positive, no more proof of Covid insurance required.

Although I still have the option, the bar opening status reported by Christian wouldn't be enough for me to re-direct from Thailand to Cambodia. This doesn't seem that much better than Bangkok.

However, Cambodia almost deserves our business for opening up properly with fewer restrictions. This would have been even better had they announced it 2 months in advance, so everyone can prepare.

Regarding the e-visa, if it's the same as the pre-covid e-visa, that's very easy to get. Fill in a simple online form, attach a photograph and the e-visa pdf usually comes back within a few hours. Print off a couple of copies. Staple one in the passport so it doesn't get lost. I've had 5 of them so far.
