Multiple sites are reporting that bars and clubs may re-open from January 16 although the wording is slightly ambiguous. See Thai News Reports and Coconuts Bangkok for example

Thai PBS alone has a cryptic report that could maybe mean that while the PCR test prior to departure will remain, the test on arrival will be the rapid antigen (30 minutes) test, which will make Thailand the same as Cambodia as far as testing/quarantine goes

Now financially- and more importantly emotionally- committed to a return in three months , I'm hoping that recent and consistent progress in tackling the virus in Pattaya will enable a suitable environment for this aging falang and his now middle-aged boyfriend. This means plenty of other gay visitors, plenty of cute gay guys to admire and plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy.

Easier entry would help, too.

Of course very much hope the same for you.
But all reports, and certainly from TH that MAY this or that happen can be put aside till the facts speak for themselves
THis is more like the classic catch22: places will not re-open when they feel they cannot attract enough worthwhile customers and customers will not come untill they are sure there are enough open places to cater for them!
