Just as well the authorities have relaxed the rules around the availability of booze on the island, as it seems there’ll be a bonking ban in place (in your hotel room). The health authorities are strongly opposed to the idea of letting visitors and local residents stay together in the same hotel room in the sandbox area as health remains a vital concern. It’s not clear if this includes the odd short-term matinee.

No bars, no clubs, no meeting new people and getting to know them in your hotel room, GPS enabled wristbands, install two tracking apps now....

That sounds like an absolutely shite holiday. Come to Thailand, but no drinking and no sex. Do they not know why people come to Thailand, or what?

And South Korea is only at 26.7% vaccinated? huh, thought it would have been higher. We're at 78% over here.

'You're vaccinated, over 70 percent of us are vaccinated. Please come in mr arsenal. The boys are waiting for you. They've missed you.'

That's what I'm waiting for or something similar.

We're at 78% over here. Now, now, as 2G* told us over and over and over in December/January they were happy - overjoyed even - to spend 60,000 baht to be locked up for two weeks in a hotel room because after that (apart from a night or two in Bangkok) Pattaya was their oyster. How is that different to two weeks NOT locked up in a hotel room on Phuket?

Your efforts at trolling today are making you look rather moronic. If you can't see the difference between Pattaya in Jan/Feb and Phuket now then no one can explain it to you. As for comparing westerners going to Thailand for some cheap but mutually agreed sex with the bombing of Laos 50 years ago then perhaps you could try the Latin experiment and just run some of this stuff past well educated western friends to gage opinions.

… just run some of this stuff past well educated western friends to gage opinions. All of the “well-educated friends” I have would spell it “gauge” but then they’re not ripping off the Chinese middle class (as they would also know it’s “well-educated” rather than “well educated”).

"No sex in the sandbox"

Never mind Covid - this topic thread just brought me right back to my Primary school days - my god the teachers just never let up about it - kill joys the lot of them !! :-) I often wondered why Father Murphy always wanted to spend so much time playing with us boys in the sandbox back then ! :)

Some doses of a vaccine, any vaccine, might help, but Thailand doesn't have any. Certainly not for farang, that's for sure. Herd immunity???

Worst part is, the effectiveness of Pfizer and Modurna are still in question in regards to the delta variant. They seem to work, but not quite as good, but not really sure and waiting for more data to come in.

Thailand is getting mostly vaccinated with SinoVac, which has proven itself to be FAR less effective than Pfizer and Modurna. Put two and to together, and what chance does SinoVac have against the delta variant?

This whole vaccination campaign Thailand is undergoing may turn out to be a total waste once the dust settles, and they might aswell just of injected everyone with saline instead. Who knows though, time will tell. As per-usual with this pandemic, we're waiting for more data to come in.

According to the UK government, against the delta variant, "Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is 96% effective against hospitalisation after 2 doses". This is "comparable with vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation from the Alpha variant."

The analysis suggests:

the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine is 96% effective against hospitalisation after 2 doses
the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is 92% effective against hospitalisation after 2 doses
These are comparable with vaccine effectiveness against hospitalisation from the Alpha variant.

Further work remains underway to establish the level of protection against mortality from the Delta variant. However, as with other variants, this is expected to be high.

The analysis included 14,019 cases of the Delta variant – 166 of whom were hospitalised – between 12 April and 4 June, looking at emergency hospital admissions in England.
