Thailand plans to waive its mandatory quarantine for vaccinated visitors to its capital Bangkok and top tourist destinations from October, deputy government spokeswoman Traisulee Traisoranakul said on Friday, in a bid to revive a key industry battered by coronavirus travel curbs.

The new measure means easier access to hotspots like Pattaya, Phangnga, Koh Samui, Krabi and the capital Bangkok, she said, among 10 provinces that will welcome tourists with proof of vaccination against Covid-19 from Oct 1.

My god is the government over there ever naive...

Israel doesn't even have dates published as to when they plan to reopen their borders, and they're by far the most vaccinated population in the world with cases taking a nose dive.

Yet, Thailand while still in the middle of trying to get its largest outbreak yet under control has it all figured out, exact dates and opening schedule, and all? Cool, must be nice to be so competent and sure...

May 23. Google “when will Israel open its borders to tourists”

No mention of May 23 on the Israeli government website at least.

That's somewhat beside the point anyway, as Israel is leaps and bounds ahead of Thailand in terms of vaccination. I think Thailand should worry about getting the current outbreak under control before they start publicizing their opening dates...

Israel ... and they're by far the most vaccinated population in the world with cases taking a nose dive.

They are not. 59%. Israel is third. At first place is UAE with 66%.

Yes, Times will write it and all "developed world's" medias too - WHO approved Sinopharm's vaccine few days ago. Moderna, Pfizer and AZ will lose market soon and needs black PR attack...

Meanwhile death rate in UAE failed from 20 in January to 2 in May daily... I can't name it "failed"

It’s not just the quarantine.

No tourist, including me, is going to visit Thailand while pubs, restaurants, gogo bars etc., are closed.
