England soon allowing vaccinated persons to leave England and return with no quarantine to the following countries :- The countries on the green list from May 17 are: Portugal including the Azores and Madeira; Australia; New Zealand; Singapore; Brunei; Iceland; the Faroe Islands; Gibraltar; the Falkland Islands; and Israel.
At least two of those countries won't allow UK citizens in!

I wouldn’t have thought there would be many wanting to go to Iceland, the Faroes or the Falklands either!

Doesn’t leave much bearing in mind there are 43 on the Red List. To be fair looking at the list I wouldn’t want to go to most of them anyway.

Portugal is the obvious country for a summer break at present. Will be interesting to see if it ends up being too crowded with Brits, or will the cost of the covid tests reign in demand sufficiently?

Thailand is on the Amber list. No surprise there.
So I believe returning to the UK requires the same regime that Gerefan and I followed earlier this year. Isolation at home is pretty easy and that part of it would not stop me spending the next winter in Thailand.
The bigger barrier is that we "should not travel to amber list countries for leisure purposes".
I'll not worry about that currently, as the rules might change several times in the 6 months between now and the time when I'll be trying to book my next trip. However, if that restriction is still in place in 5 months time, I shall investigate work arounds like going there for education, business, to purchase a property* or spending a few days in a more liberal country first.
*The property purchase would be likely to collapse.

I’ll be off to Engleberg in Switzerland once quarantine-free travel is in place for Thailand and I can return whenever I want.

The above post is yet another attempt by Rainman to show how clever he is and confirm his obsession with the Thai monarchy.
