New York City has developed a digital vaccination passport. As I’ve suggested previously for this type of application it is blockchain-based, making database hacking impossible. Perhaps cdnmatt and bkkguy (our two resident cyber security experts) might care to chip in at this point.

https://www.ibm.com/blockchain

Didn't look very long, so I may be missing something. Nonetheless, that's not a blockchain. That's IBM hijacking the word to turn a profit.

It's a blockchain as long as you trust IBM, which means it's not a blockchain. Can anyone in the world download a quick program, start their own node, and download the entire blockchain to their computer ensuring immutability across the entire network since there's hundreds of thousands of copies of it floating around? Didn't think so, hence it's not a blockchain.

Again, I may be missing something, but doubt it.

EDIT: Before someone jumps on me, I didn't look into the technical details enough, so don't know if / how blocks are processed, whether or not merkle trees are used, et al. So technically it may fit the description as in a "chain of blocks", but will still stick with they're hijacking the term to turn a profit.

Too kind - I’ve let them know. Could you send your contact details via PM and I’ll pass them on as I’m sure Andrew Cuomo will value your input.

You asked for my input in the OP. You got it.

You asked for my input in the OP. You got it.Summarised as “It mentions IBM so it must be crap”.

No, never said that. I simply said it's not a blockchain ala bitcoin.

No, never said that. I simply said it's not a blockchain ala bitcoin. In your opinion based on no knowledge at all about how it’s deployed.

Oh, go slit your wrists and punch a tranny. You'll feel better.

It's a blockchain as long as you trust IBM, which means it's not a blockchain. In summary Matt’s argument is that although it may technically be a blockchain it’s one that has been deployed by a profit-making enterprise and is therefore inherently “evil” and not a “true” blockchain. NB Matt’s own software business never makes a profit.

Once I get back to Asia, shall we compare harem sizes?

Once I get back to Asia, shall we compare harem sizes? If they can all show a blockchain-based “vaccination passport”, sure.

As per usual, Republicans are taking this well.
