As a bit of light relief from coronavirus, vaccine efficacy, daily death rates and r-numbers I've had a mini holocaust film season.

Inglourious Basterds.
Quentin Tarantino's fantasy fairytale with Brad Pitt et al causing fear and angst throughout the high ranks of the Nazis. Oscar winning performance from Christoph Waltz, perhaps the most watchable actor today.

Denial.
The libel trial between holocaust denier historian David Irving and Deborah Lipstadt.
'There should be teams of forensic scientists here collecting evidence' says Tom Wilkinson, Lipstadt''s lawyer in total frustration during their visit to Auschwitz.

The Debt.
Tom Wilkinson, Ciaran Hinds and Helen Mirren as Mossad special agents in 1965 post-war Berlin to extract a suspected Nazi war criminal. Thriller with twists and turns but it's the human emotions that are really the overriding theme. What to do and what are the consequences for the individuals and the nation of Israel.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
The story of two 8 year old boys either side of the concentration camp fence. Outstanding performance from Asa Butterfield and an ending that's a complete mindfuck for the viewer because you don't know what you want.

In the same vein, I recently watched

The Boys From Brazil 1978 (Laurence Olivier - Gregory Peck) HD
A Nazi hunter in Paraguay discovers a sinister and bizarre plot to rekindle the Third Reich.

I saw Inglorious Basterds many years ago, and armed with that memory, I find the following is hilarious:
