Our fearless leader is to be vaccinated on Sunday, with the first public vaccinations to follow from Monday 1 March. Given the persistent rumours I hear ("my cousin's wife’s niece works in Government House and she says ...") that the junta members have already been vaccinated, I wonder what new conspiracy theories we'll hear

And in a typical This Is Thailand clusterfuck, our great leader will not, after all, be vaccinated on Sunday

Did I get this right? The Prime Minister of Thailand saying he'll be unable to get the vaccine jab as promised on Sunday because it's held up at customs due to paper work?

Sheesh... some bad ass postal workers over there in Thailand. Even the Prime Minister can't get shipments through.

Great news. Anything that brings the end closer is to be welcomed.

I see from that article “hospitality” workers are to be in the priority group.

A Thai euphemism for saying prostitutes go to the front of the queue?

I can't imagine the under 30 year old prostitutes from Cambodia and Laos will be at the front of the queue.

According to this update the Great Leader was to have the AstraZeneca vaccine imported from a South Korean source. However naughty AstraZeneca had only supplied certification for South Korea which - obviously - is utterly unacceptable and irrelevant for Thailand:

So Thailand is scared that AZ will sue if they use any of the vaccines due to AZ messing up the paperwork? Is that really the story they're going with?

From that article:

As for the 200,000 doses of the Chinese-made Sinovac vaccine, he explained that it is not suitable for people over 60, including the prime minister.

And look at that, lots of reports in the news about AZ and older people, Sweden and South Korea won't use it on people over 65, et al. Wonder if that has anything to do with his decision?

Wonder if that has anything to do with his decision? The 65+ scare stories seem to be politically motivated by some EU leaders who are pursuing an anti-British line of attack, amplified by the usual Russian and Chinese disinformation machines. The WHO among others has endorsed it as safe and effective.

So if the PM isn't getting the jab on Sunday, any news as to when the Thai population will start getting those 117k doses they now have?

Essentially however Thailand will mostly use (shut your eyes here, Dodgems) locally produced AstraZeneca vaccine from May/June onwards
