I am new here, my name is Elias, I come from Germany, am 20 years old and have the problem that I like Asians very much. I dont think that I have to say that I am gay. The Problem on liking asians in Germany is, that there is only a very small amount of asians in Germany, and the next problem is, I like asians, but do not want to have to do with chinese, so the biggest group in Germany came not in question for me. If the Corona pandemic gets better, I want to travel to Taiwan, eventually I will find someone there to show him Germany, but until I can travel, I want to search here if theres someone from Taiwan to get in touch with?

Asians in Taiwan are chinese. Perhaps you know that. Nationally they are Taiwanese, ethnically they are chinese. Perhaps you meant to say that you want to avoid people from mainland China.

I mean with taiwanese such people like we had as bussiness visitors in our company, I can only say someone in the company labelled them chinese, you was able to hear the result through the entire building, they seemed to absolutely hate it to be called chinese. I have seen too that their passorts had the word China sticked over with Taiwan. I know that China wants to make Taiwan their property, but I really hope this will never happen. If theres a single good message from this Corona pandemic, then it is that it braked the process from the chinese governemnt to get the entire world under their control. You really dont want to know how much high technology companies they if we say it hard thefted only from Germany...

My situation is similar (I'm from Germany, 39 years old, like South-East Asian men). I have traveled South-East Asian and Taiwan extensively and can say that for me gay dating in Taiwan was an uphill battle. Dating mainland Chinese better (but statistical basis is small).
In numbers: 3 months living in Taipei, 3 boys in my room (all for free). One week holiday in Myanmar, 7 boys in my room (6 for free, one taxi money).

I recommend using online dating apps (I used hornet and blued in Taiwan) and contact profiles in Taiwan. I find the response rate very low.

But I have several older friends (50-70 years old) who report good success in Taiwan.


I want to travel to Taiwan, eventually I will find someone there to show him Germany,...That sounds a bit condescending. This approach (taking someone to your home country for a holiday) might work well with men from lesser developed countries. But I found Taiwan to be similar developed as Germany, people similarly educated and civilized. Unless your Taiwanese friend has a particular interest in Germany, or you invite him and he has spare time to go with you, there is no reason why a Taiwanese should go with you to Germany.

Yes, because of technical aspects there is no reason to take soemone from Taiwan (In my meaning more developed than Germany) to Germany, but there are some people who like Germany because of the Culture, so theres a very small chance to find someone. If I would really find the right one, I want to stay togehter with him, not only one night. The problem with chinese is, that I really not made the best experiences with them, do not like them and I do not think the he would for example able to take a look in the company I work for because they hate chinese there, thanks to the technology theft China makes every day.

Surprised to read these negative perceptions of Taiwan's gay life. I worked there for three months and had a ball! Of course it wasn't pattaya sex on a plate, but normal human interaction. It's an affluent and successful country. Guys don't need the patronage of sex tourists.

I can give you some very good advice. I visited Taiwan for the first time on 2018 and loved it. I liked it so much that I moved there and lived for almost a year there. I have many friends then if you want to make some contacts.

I'm a 30-years old total top, mixed-race (I usually got some weird questions when traveling through Asia). I'm surprised to see those posts saying that Taiwanese don't like foreigners. My experience is that they love us. Taiwan is a country that deserved to be visited. They are so many guys willing to meet and show you around. Judging by comments here, experiences seem to be either great or poor with no middle way. Unfortunately, mine was poor. Among all the countries I have visited and looked for sex for in Asia, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Lao, Vietnam rate higher than Taiwan. Too little data for Indonesia and Malaysia and too long ago. I wouldn't go to Taiwan for sex.

The good things about gay sex in Taiwan are that it comes without the problems frequently encountered in Thailand. And the gay sauna "Soi 13 in" is the best I have been to, consistently*. But I would rather rather have someone in my room; sauna sex is not my style.

As a place for tourism, Taiwan is high on my list and highly recommended.

*With a large statistical basis: in 2018 14 visits to "Soi 13 in" and 12 times lucky; about 300 gay sauna visits in the last ten years mostly in Thailand, some in Cambodia and Vietnam as well.

I visited this sauna once and didn't like it. Taiwanese in public are very shy and I don't like to be pushy. That's something I didn't like in general. It's hard to pick up guys in public. There are no tourists in Thailand, unless they’re stranded, in hospital or in the monkey house or have long stay visas.

I have been to TW twice recently (in 2018 and 2019) and enjoyed it immensely - I want to go back (when TW is open again for foreigners/tourists). As stated above TW is not an undeveloped/poor country and Taiwanse don't depend on foreigners/tourism in the same way as e.g. Thailand. That means that Taiwanese guys will hook-up with you if they are interested in you/are into you. That is probably why older foreign/white men face difficulties finding the type of young boys that they are used to (paying for) in Thailand, Vietnam etc. Anyway, at 20y you should have no issues finding gym fit lean guys to hook up with (there seems to be so many of them !) But it is true that the majority of Taiwanese gay guys are into Asians but that shouldn't deter you from visiting TW; there will be plenty of local guys looking for white guys (and without exchange of money).

Weatherwise October and November are perfect in TW. I'm told that it can get quite hot and humid during the summer there. Winter is probably a bit too cold unless you are in the South of the island.

No, they don't but Taiwanese are proud to be from Taiwan - they are not from China! - but it doesn't mean that they hate Chinese. There are many and strong ties between Taiwan and China, but as you may know politically the relations to mainland China are complicated.

Anyway, if you dislike mainline Chinese so much maybe you should not travel to TW - for foreigners it is difficult to tell any difference between Taiwanese and Chinese !

Sorry I just read this thread. Forget fridae - its' total waste of time and money. 15 years ago it was worth joining but it has been dead for several years since the original owners sold it to a commercial outfit which has run it into the ground.

Just check their first page. The News & Features section has an article on how important it is to keep in touch during the difficult times of the pandemic. But it was written on 9 June and there has been nothing since then. Look at their Personals page. Always they state between 1650 and 1800 members on line when you check. That's a complete laugh. No listed country has less than 50 on line. fridae may claim that but then click on the country. Taiwan now has 60 allegedly. Funny how it shows only 10. New Zealand is supposed to have 53. It actually has 2. Sometimes you will see more than 50 supposedly from North Korea.

Then check the ages of the members. The average age is well over 40.

I see that Speedoo1 mentioned weather in Taiwan is perfect in October and November. Doesn't the Taipei Gay Pride Parade take place around this time? Photos on other forums make it look a really fun day with tens of thousands of great looking guys. I assume they are Taiwanese although I know it has become quite a tourist attraction for gays from around the region.

Taipei Pride is always the last weekend in Oct. This year it is 31 Oct. But as a foreigner/from outside TW you will have no chance of entering TW by next month.

Formosa/Taipei Pride is a blast with handsome fit/muscle Asian guys from all over Asia - a lot from HK, SG, Korea etc flying into TW for the weekend. Most guys are into Asian though. Book accommodation ahead as the city is very busy during Pride weekend. Outdoor bars at Red Square will be extremely crowded Friday and Saturday nights. This year I assume that the Pride will be much smaller as visitors will be far less.
