Now said to be 20, both in army compound and a shopping centre.
Yesterday, sat 8/2 was Maha Bukha day, a major buddhist holiday (no sale of alco allowed to the utter surprise of many a farang who thinks only Thai cannot preplan).
As for now looks like someone has gone berserk, but nothing about any possible explanation.

Some more:
started with shooitng comrades in the army camp, reason was said to be a dispute with higher officer about land deal. Apparently not a normal conscript but a well trained special forces man. As for now still unclear if he is caught or still in the Term 21 shopping centre Khorat under heavy armed.
Most of the news from inside T21 came from a farang posting on his fb account.

NAKHON RATCHASIMA: Police and soldiers rescued hundreds of people from a shopping mall late Saturday night as they continued to hunt for a gunman who had holed up inside after killing at least 25 people.

The carnage began around 3.30pm when the soldier shot dead his commander and two others at the Surathampithak army camp before stealing weapons and ammunition and fleeing in a stolen Humvee.

An image from security video at Terminal 21 shows the attacker entering the shopping centre around 6pm Saturday.

He fired at civilians along the route to the Terminal 21 shopping mall, which was packed with shoppers celebrating the long weekend. Many more people were slain inside the mall, where the gunman live-streamed the mayhem on Facebook Live before his site was shut down . . .

Following Nakhon Ratchasima's shooting rampage, which left 30 people dead, including the gunman, and 57 others injured, Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Sunday ordered a review of security measures at the military's armouries.

"All I can say is if we had fully followed [the standard security procedure], we would have been able to mitigate the degree of violence [in this incident]," said Gen Prayut after a briefing on the weekend's shooting spree.

"Even if we insisted we had completely followed a proper security procedure, the question is what more could we have done to improve the efficiency of security measures?" he said . . .
