Makha Bucha (Buddhist holiday) will be on 8 Feb 2020. Last night in Screwboys, there was an announcement in Thai that the bar will be closed. That is probably general for all gogo bars.

Good reminder, danke. As its one of the offcial holidays, banks/govmt etc. will thus have the MO 10/2 off, as this is on SAT. Not that many countries are so benevolent with compensation of such holidays.
The major reason though is that to the ultimate shriek and horror (as they always claim the Thai cannot think 1 minute ahead) of many an alcoholic expat on these days whole day the sale of alco is banned (remember; only SALE, not as such consumpiton). Bars thus also cannot sell their most profitmaking goods and thus simply close-the cost would have been higher as the takings. Most customers are not like chris who is already satisfied with OJ or soda.
It seems a good excuse too for many to extend their holidays from last week, BKK seems still quite empty as far as traffic jams go.
