Walking around Thailand. Wondered what the signs are saying? Not any longer!
Take a pic and klick translate! Brilliant, and free from Google!

I downloaded the app today and tried it on the train in Kyoto. It was far from perfect but I suppose it could be useful if you are desperate.

Japanese uses 4 alphabets (including Roman letters) so google lens might be confused.

A fa-ràng friend in Bangkok shared on facebook the following photo and very useful road sign message for drunk drivers:

“Drive slowly if drunk” – New Year Thai road sign stuns the Japanese

Japanese media were laughing at Thailand yesterday after ANN news broadcast a picture of a Thai road sign that said: Mao Khap Cha-chaa – if you’re drunk drive slowly.

Japan has very strict drink driving laws while Thailand is sometimes seen as a joke in this regard, notes ThaiVisa.

I tried using Google lens on the sign and got, “Drunk drive slowly” and “Drunk driving slowly” which was not too bad considering I used it on my computer screen and not a real life sign.

And, per Google Translate:
kàp cháa-cháa tâa mao = drive slowly if drunk
