I have used Mac, Siam Roads, 3 times over the last year, and he was very good,, though he had some personal issues. We got on well, but he has gone off message, and not replied to my last 4 txts, and I arrive in Bangkok on Wednesday. Does anyone have news if him, he is a nice guy.

Hello Keith, Mac is doing well, but is super-busy. I think what reason why he doesn't answer to your email - you have no reservation of tours with him on Siamroads: you have reservations of tour with Al at Wednesday (#1114) and at Saturday (#1115).

Yes, you had tours with Mac at past, but please look at situation by Mac's eyes: now is high season and guys mostly working 14 hours per day mostly without days off for to accumulate money for low season time. They answer to all messages only at early morning and late evening - at day they work with current client, so they filter messages and answer only to people who already booked their tours, and leave all other messages to time when they will have more time to answer.

I will be happy to assist to you with your bookings, but let's do it in PM or by email :)

By the way: due huge demand in tours now BKK-team is: 3 guides who works daily, 2 guides who works by weekends + Friday evening, 1 driver for tours outside of BKK. TH-team also has guides in Pattaya, Chiang Mai, on Samui and on Phuket.

Moses, thanks. I appreciate the pressure, and I know it is high season, but I have been texting Mac for 6 weeks! I turned to Al as no Reply from Mac. Despite the work load, it doesn't take long to txt. Mac always told that he liked me, etc, and I used to be generous, buying him Trainers etc, so I was concerned to get no reply. As I said he had issues, accommodation etc, so I was concerned. I am back for New Year, and would like to reestablish contact.

Moses, you may have had a word, as I have now heard from Mac! He says he is having a bad time. I will try to use him end December when I return to Bangkok.

While I'm talking with Mac frequently, I'm not ready discuss his private life on forums. Yes, I know you spoke with him: it was me who asked Mac to find time and to answer to you.

Mac is good person and is worthy to be care of. Also as a guide he is just amazing for clients who is interesting in Thai history and culture.

Moses, thanks. I hope to see Mac end December. This time I used Al, who was very unsatisfactory. Disinterested, dull, I knew more about gay scene than him. When I told him of my views all he did was insult me. Avoid!

Reaching for the popcorn.......as you just know there's going to be a reason given that somehow it was the customer was the one that caused the problem lol

Thank you for feedback. Siamroads does around 1000 tours per year. Every tour is very personal and private. And I don't wonder what sometimes there is no "click" between client and guide. We meet that in 0.5-1.0% of tours. It is "another side of the coin" for personalized tours.

Still very sorry for your evening with Al. Tomorrow you will be served by another guide.

Well THAT was an anticlimax ! :-( But I guess as Moses says on the law of averages people can't always hit it off "every time" - So, now comes tomorrows exciting episode to see IS it the customer or the guide who's hard work ! lol

This is phenomenon of connection via Internet. Our clients and guides usually have chats in WhatsApp before tour for to plan it. As usually in online chat we adding some details to opponent "to fill the gaps" in his personality. Often we fill too much of details what we wish to find in opponent. Too much fantasy. And when client and guide meet in real life, then sometimes these added fantasy details fall down too quickly and that brings disappointment. That I call "no click".

There is no fault of client. Also at many cases there is no fault of guide. Just no click. Client just met different personality in guide than he expected to meet.

We will talk to Al for to find what went wrong anyway. Once more: sorry Keith for your unpleasant experience.

A strange thing happened yesterday. I was reading this thread and a post popped up from arsenal, something about "something rotten in the state of Denmark" and "a little bird had told him". I was going to reply but then it disappeared. Does that happen often? How is it possible?

Think of it as a form of Schrodinger's Cat. The post is both there and not there at the same time.

Rearrange these words - "back-channel" "boasting" "a447" "regret"

Just to say that Siam Roads provided Mike as a replacement guide. And he was very good. Bright, helpful, informative. We got on well

OK, I had to look it up. Now I've read about it, I feel none the wiser.

Never let it be said that this forum is not informative.

Just to say that I am now in Siem Reap, and have been using Sareth from Siam Roads. First class guide, friendly, interesting and very knowledgeable.
