I'm going to Saigon in February 2020 with a friend, and we want to stay in a gay friendly hotel that allows visitors. Can anyone help with information? Also, how can we meet local guys? The apps? The saunas? Bars? Any information is appreciated.

Apps, a lot of boys, around 50% are moneyboys. Most populated app is Blued.
NaDam spa, Thi bar - boys and young men, your luck depends on how good looking you are.

..... we want to stay in a gay friendly hotel that allows visitors.

There are hotels that are advertised as "gay friendly", but they all seem really expensive, for some reason (at least by SE Asian standards).

I usually just a find a well reviewed joint, that has a price I like, and take my chances that the guy on the counter at night is reasonably chilled. I've been to Saigon at least seven times now, and never had a problem - except once, when the guy insisted that if my off was staying all night, that I pay extra for double occupancy.

My impression is that most hotels in Vietnam don't care if you bring someone back, as long as you're discrete.

Had 6 nights there back in July. Spent most the time just catching up with a couple of friends, as socialising in the straight bars. But I also met 3 different offs via the apps. Seems to be where it's all happening.

My impression has always been that there's no specific gay culture in sgn - that Vietnamese people are so casual about it, that gay people just blend in with the rest of the Nightlife. But I read on the web recently that there a few different speciality gay bars have opened there recently (see Google). Didn't try them. Maybe next time.

Thank you for the advice.
The one thing I do is always book a room for 2 people.

I wouldn't, unless you definitely know you'll have someone staying with you all night, every night that you're there. Otherwise you're wasting money.

Like I say, this was only one incident, in the many, many trips I've made to Vietnam. It was back in 2014 IIRC, and in this case, I actually managed to talk the night manager out of charging me, by assuring him the guy wouldn't be staying all night - which he didn't.

Just by the way, totally off topic anyway, but interesting nevertheless.....

I wasn't planning on offing this guy. I just wanted to jam with him. He had a guitar, and I'd just bought a $90, quite functional Mandolin at one of the gift shops. We had a nice jam, and believe it or not, at the end of it he suddenly kissed me, and we started to fuck. This was a surprise to me.

Totally random shit like that always happens to me in Vietnam. That's why I love the place.
