According to a thread on GB, Eros is relocating to BT. Of course it won't be the same bar nor have the same (cough cough) liberal activities. However it's still a good thing.

I'm wondering where exactly it will go. My guess would be in the old X-Boys site which then puts four go go bars in that soi. Oh for the days when there were ten down there.

One thing is obvious. Bars with plenty of customers have absolutely no problem getting lots of boys.

2 You & Arsenal are probably about right, in that "hands on" is obviously acceptable in Power Boys, Nice Boys and quite a few other bars, but getting him to stand up and drop his underwear for full on nudity in the bar is quite unlikely.

My understanding is that - certainly in the days when Madame Jim ruled the roost and quite probably since then too - Boyztown bars have operated informally as a cartel that imposed certain pretty rigid regulations and standards on its members. None were, for instance, allowed to step significantly or permanently out of line on pricing, so as not to give any of them a particular commercial advantage over the others. That would certainly explain the essential homogeneity - often to the extent of virtual interchangability - of Boyztown bars.

If such a cartel approach still operates, I imagine that such a USP as completely and permanently nude dancers would similarly be ruled out of court as another instance of "unfair" competition.

So it will be interesting to see if Eros either does something like moving into the old Funny Boys premises and running a conventional gogo bar, or perhaps offers something more raunchy in a nearby street. I hope for the latter.

Yes. Me too Goji. A joint venture (as it's being touted on GB) between the owners of Eros and X-boys is a mouth watering prospect for those of us who like our boy bars spicy. However it may be an attempt to replicate BBB or Music Boys in which case what's the point.

I think the BT 'cartel' was more of an affiliation than anything else. Whatever it was I think it's done and dusted. BBB seems to have placed screens specifically designed to spoil the view of the customers in Paradise.

Dreamboys or X-Boys on an off season rainy night is as good a chance as any. Take the party in with you. Buy a bottle (you'll get a good deal) and be generous with tips and you'll probably have them queuing up to get their pants off.

I remember visiting the original “Twilight Bar” in Soi Twilight. The guys would dance naked at certain times of the evening. I was amused when the guy I was sitting with after I’d invited him to join me whipped his pants off along with the guys on stage.

About the same time I visited another bar in the Soi but I don’t remember its name. You went up a staircase to reach it. The guys were naked and two of them were playing with each other and simulating sex acts. I offed the younger of the two to a grim room up yet more stairs. I asked him if the other guy was his boyfriend but he said it was his brother! Apparently it was his brother who had encouraged him to come to Bangkok and work in the bar.

A bit further away there was a bar called “Galaxy Boys” which I don’t think lasted long. The “boys” were naked and looked dangerously young. I left when a very creepy Mamasan asked if I wanted a “younger boy”. I tipped the boy I had been sitting with and a tout who had been outside earlier promptly took it and said it was his as he had introduced me to the bar. I said he had done no such thing. Then the boy I’d been sitting with burst into tears and looked so pathetic standing there with nothing on. I tipped him again and hoped he would get to keep it but I don’t know what happened when I left. I didn’t go back.

I liked Happy Boys, too. Very much in the style of the 90s. Just like me. And not a tattoo to be seen, as far as I recall. The darkened upstairs was fun and unlike anywhere else I've been while the guys dancing on individual podiums a couple of feet away provided interesting views. The latest by the former owner is to open a swimming pool/bar in BT and I have to concur with the perceived wisdom that it's got no chance of success. Who wants to get wet on a night out.

Were it possible then one of the side streets in Jomtien is the perfect place for a go go bar.

And I have to say to MFAS that your comment of no good looking boys in Eros is incorrect. A quick audit shows that some of the best looking boys I've ever had came from there.
