I'm debating on visiting or possibly moving to Thailand. I'm trying to learn Thai and was curious if anyone had any suggestions on tools to learn, or if anyone would like to add me on Facebook so I can practice and learn.

Thanks
Tof

if a local Thai guy is willing to give you access to his tool to practice and learn on I would recommend focusing initially more on oral skills - it is easier to pick up the required manual hand actions for output skills at a later stage in the process

Try this link - the courses are free and pretty good.

For a beginner, I think it is very important to learn to distinguish tones and sounds in listening and speaking, which can only be done with a native speaker. I recommend taking classes (individual better than group) before studying alone.

I'm speaking of experience. I studied Thai in 2011 and now do most of my business (traveling and boys) in Thai language. Group courses, or rather group exercises where you practice with your neighbor, are detrimental. (My opinion from studying Thai and Chinese first in group course, then switching to individual course.)
