I've been in NB hundreds of times but I don't recall seeing him. Sadly. Hope to rectify that failing soon.

Hilltribe folks are mostly from Myanmar in the North West, and much closer to Chiang Mai and Mai Hong Son.

Well as we've gone off topic.

That picture reminds me of my first trip to Thailand one or two years ago now. I stayed in a lodge north of Chiang Rai and this guy showed up selling pipes of opium. I did a couple and then retired to my hut feeling horny. He had no teeth as a result of the betal nut which is a popular hallucinogen in those parts.
