There will be no cute young twinks in Golden Cock. I was there several times in June and July hoping for a good time but there was only one or two boys and they are older and not cute. I kept telling the owner/manager what I wanted but would tell me next time but next time there was nothing close to what I wanted. There are also no muscle boys. This used to be a fun bar where you could buy whiskey for everyone and have fun parties with the boys getting naked and dancing for your or jacking off for you in the chair next to you. a447 can tell you some stories of times past. I was really disappointed as this was the first gay bar I went to in Bangkok maybe 30 years ago and I always tried to pay them a visit each time I returned over the years but I have to say I don’t think I will ever go back again. I guess what kept me coming back was they open at 2pm and I like have an afternoon party and then dinner and bed. I guess I am just getting old.

When I was there the last time (May 2019) Golden Cock was a sad scene. Boys were in very rough shape and essentially rejects from the more mainstream bars. I felt so sorry for a yesterday-boy-toy I had to tip him to refrain from stripping and jerking off.

I used to read colorful and juicy stories about the venue here but I guess its no-same-same now. A similar conclusion can also be drawn to Nature Boy down the road

Dont worry Asia Traveller whilst you like the rest of us might be getting old(er) I assure you that your view of GC is probably not as linked to that as you might think as I too walked into there on my last visit, took one look at the two guys hanging about at the bar and quickly made my excuses and left.

Unlike A447 I can honestly say though that i've never found the place that entertaining or fun anyways and also used it simply as somewhere to go for an afternoon drink and to get out of the heat and sit and chat to gay (??) guys. But after my last (two visits now that I think of it which were both totally shit) I think it'll be a while before I would bother going back there specifically again myself too.

I haven't been there for almost a year.

My long-term "friend" works there and he is the main reason I visit. And it is he who makes sure I have a great time there. If he wasn't there I wouldn't bother.

If you were to just walk in off the street looking for a good time, chances are there will be very few guys there and you will be disappointed, especially if you are into twinks.

GC is like a social club and the guys are more into enjoying themselves than "entertaining" customers. The fun has to be arranged.

Thanks to the efforts and contacts of my friend, I've had some incredible fun in GC. On some Saturday nights it has been party central with lots of guys, and lots of customers (yes, customers!) one of whom - me - is more than willing to loosen the purse strings to ensure a good time. We all know that at the end of the day, money talks in the bars.

If you see GC as being more akin to a boys club - a bit like a close-knit group of football team members - you'll understand it better.

The Golden Cock was the first Gay Bar I ever visited in Thailand on my first visit in 1990. The rooms upstairs were nice and clean in those days and there were cute boys in the bar from early afternoon.

My favourite memory has to be one occasion when an American customer payed to have the door locked and we all stripped off and had an orgy.

I am also into cute twinks. In the last 12 years, I have probably stuck my head inside Golden Cock on most of the trips.

I have never seen a cute twink, or even a twink who would be just about acceptable if I relaxed standards. Nothing has ever enticed me to sit down and buy a drink. I pop in, realize it's a disaster and leave.

As I recall the name was Kuhn Sweet Cigar; it was the first bar I wandered into on my first trip to Thailand. Very strange place especially for a newcomer.

Yes the interior of GC has not been refreshed in years and many of the boys you see there have literally been there for years as well.

The last time I was there I complained about the condition of the sofas and they said they'd buy some new covers. I don't know if they did that, as I returned home soon after.

AFAIK there are only 3 guys who have been there for years - my friend, Jay (the manager) and the fat guy.

Every trip I see new guys there, but the next trip some of them have been replaced by others. Some guys come and go throughout the year, as they use the bar as a meeting place to catch up with their friends.

The bar was cleaned every day. I know because I was there.

Oh, and they finally changed the water in that fish tank so now you can actually see them.

I used their upstairs in 2013 and again 2018 and it was acceptable by my standards.

The main issue I have with the bar is that the boys now are mostly fully dressed, some shirtless in trousers, or some in underwear but with shirt.

Only because I met one who is very much my type (and good vibes when I had him sitting with me, but I didn't think of getting his contact information; so I went again but he was not there, but on the third time he was there again); I went three times within the last two months.

There can be some gems, but overall it's hardly worth my time and money.
