I've never had a massage in Thailand, which I intend to rectify on my upcoming trip. Is this how it works? I see a boy outside Blue Boy (for example) and we go inside. I pay the man (1500Bt?) and the boy takes me to a room. Have I secured his services for an hour? If so, what do we do for the other 50 minutes? And do I pay him directly (1000Bt?). Genuine questions.

Since there have not been any replies to your questions as of yet, joe552, let me be the first to try and answer some of your questions based on my own experience.

This is how I would usually split my one hour massage time. I do enjoy the massage part, which if the masseur has any skills, can be very relaxing and enjoyable. This part (part one) can occupy 50-70% of the time. On one occasion, I discussed this aspect with the then manager of the Prince massage parlour in Bangkok. If I remember correctly he was South American, maybe from Argentina, I am not 100% certain. The point being, he spoke excellent English. He told me that some customers are not interested in the massage part and want to get straight down to business. This, he said, upset some of his masseurs who wanted to show off their massage skills. His advice to them was, the customer has paid for the hour or, in some cases 90 minutes, and he (the customer) therefore decides what is done during the time slot. At the end of the day, the masseur still gets his fee and the business gets its fee, no matter how the time is split in the massage room.

There have been occasions when I’ve wondered when part two is about to happen and, in those circumstances, I simply turn over and initiate the next stage. But, thankfully, that does not happen very often, normally there is a very smooth transition to the happy ending stage.

The last time I visited a massage parlour in Pattaya, was in March 2018. I posted a report of my experience at post #118 on the Royal House Massage topic at page 12, which you may not have seen. I have provided a link, but for ease of reference, I have copied my post below to save you time searching for it. It may give you a broad indication of what to expect and, hopefully, you will find it helpful. But bear in mind, it is of course only based on my experience; others will no doubt have a completely different take on the etiquette to be followed when visiting massage parlours.


To paraphrase Bette Davis, I can't believe I chose this crappy massage joint for my first massage in Pattaya. What a dump!

Actually, it was no worse than many such places I have visited; I just couldn’t resist the introductory first paragraph.

There were around 10-15 very manly guys available, thankfully, not a skinny effeminate guy in sight. I think the description of 'escapees from a juvenile detention centre' by a447 very suitably sums them up. But had I not visited a truly scary massage joint in Bangkok the previous week, where nearly all of the masseurs could be accurately described as ‘old lags’, Category ‘A’, high risk, cut throats if detained in Her Majesty’s Prisons in the UK, I might have been put off. But with that experience under my belt, the Royal House masseurs were sweet Mummy’s boys in comparison, trust me!

I didn't even get a good look at most of them. This may seem odd, but I find it very awkward staring and sizing up the guys in these type of situations. A two-way mirror would have spared my blushes, but no such luck. That's the advantage of being in a go-go bar; I don't feel as pressurised, unless, of course, I'm the only customer in the bar.

A cute tattooed lad quickly attracted my attention and the selection process was settled speedily. I chose an oil massage at a cost of 400 Baht.

And, FarangRuMak, the papasan also whispered in my ear, he said something along the following lines: “Psssssst . . . hey Mister, 500 Baht tip to boy for massage, or 1,000 Baht for sex. OK?” To which I replied, “Er . . . yes, OK.”

Upstairs, after using the toilet, I went to wash my hands, but discovered the wash hand basin in the toilet had no running water. Even if it had, there was no plumbing under the sink so the water would have spilled out on to the floor. Interesting!

My masseur escorted me to the shower stall. Hmmm . . . there was no soap or shampoo in the shower. Just as well I had showered before I left my hotel.

My chosen boy showered in the stall next to me. But dear God, he gave a very good impression of being a consumptive, given the amount of hawking and spitting up of phlegm I heard. Yuck! It almost, but didn’t quite put me off my massage. :D

There was no relaxing background music, which I occasionally enjoy, as it helps me unwind and enjoy the first part of the massage. The masseur had nice soft hands and, much to my relief, performed his task naked. When he got up on to the table from behind me, I could feel his dingly-dangly bits brushing against my legs, which, dear reader, I’ll admit to being a very pleasant sensation.

Overall, the massage was very good, I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, when I turned over and first of all felt, then saw his manhood; I was deeply disappointed to find it had been enhanced. I’m sure I have encountered this before; I just can’t remember the last time. I'm sure I would have been happily satisfied with the appendage nature had given the lad, but he clearly was not. If I say it looked like a sausage wrapped in a hot dog bun, I think you will have a fairly accurate picture of what it looked like.

Up until that moment I was planning on having a repeat session with him, but now, probably not. To compensate for the damage he had done to his under-carriage, he, thankfully, made up for it on his rear, which was gloriously hairy. But it took some persistence to get him to open his butt cheeks, each time I touched his ass he would cry out, “ják-gà-jii . . . ják-gà-jii” (It’s ticklish! It’s ticklish!). But I was resolute in my determination and he soon became desensitised, or at least stopped crying out, and the both of us had a very happy ending.

He asked to see me again, so all must have gone well. I tipped him 1,100 Baht, but cannot decide whether I want to see him again. He again asked if I would return, I did not give him an emphatic reassurance and simply replied, “àat-jà kráp” (maybe).

The trouble is, when I visited the massage parlour, I was the only customer. If I return and find yet again I am the only customer, I shall no doubt find myself in a bit of a quandary. Should I really ignore him, well apart from a gentle nod of the head in recognition, and choose another masseur? But what if the other masseur is a dud? This is the risk we, cultural exchange ambassadors, take, whenever we enter a massage parlour or go-go bar.

Joe, my experiences in a massage house were quite ordinary. Enter, choose a masseur,go to a room, remove your clothes, lie face down and enjoy a massage. When ready the masseur will ask you to roll over and then the fun begins, if any! When finished you give the masseur a tip, and then pay the house fee. EZ-PZ.

I usually visit and talk with manger or reception person and ask what services they provide and the price. They usually show you a menu with prices. I ask about the rooms i.e. has walls, shower with hot water, and if they are willing I like to take a look at the facility and rooms before I book. I also ask about tipping amount for regular massage and happy ending. This way I understand everything prior to having a look at the boys available. As far as massage time versus fun time it is up to you to decide or simply follow the boys lead. I want a good massage followed by a good time. Most boys are going to begin brushing your vital parts during the massage and with increasing frequency as you approach the end of the massage and transition if you choose to fun time. Payment of tip is direct to the boy and payment for the massage is usually done on the way out to the front desk. So, to take this down to the very basic 101:

1) Find massage shop - walk in door

2) You will probably be given some sort of menu that gives prices, and often some sort of tip expectation. You will need to pay the shop and boy separately. The shop will have a tariff, if they don't say how much the tip should be, give him 1000 baht (afterwards)

3) A selection of boys will usually appear for you to choose from. If the choice is poor and you don't fancy any of them, there will be no issue if you say 'sorry' and leave.

4) Expect to be asked to shower first, don't decline. In some shops the boy will join you, in any event he is likely to take a quick shower before starting the massage.

5) There is no rule that says you have to be naked for the massage, and if you're shy you can wear a towel or your briefs, but most men go naked. First off lie face down on the massage table and relax as he prepares.

6) Enjoy the massage, don't rush to get sexual - although many customers do.

7) In Thailand, most massage boys work naked. In most other Asian countries they keep their briefs on for the massage part.

8) He expects you to touch his dick - if his dick comes close to your face whilst he's massaging you, he's probably hoping you'll suck it. There's no need to ask if he minds.

9) When he's finished massaging your back he'll ask you to turn over. That's normally when the massage ends and the sex starts.

10) Not all massage boys fuck, some are top and some are bottom, many are versatile. If you have a particular sexual activity in mind, tell the boy on reception and he'll tell you who is up for it (not all massage boys speak good English)

11) Relax and enjoy. Don't over tip the boys, but do treat them with respect.

Most massage boys give massage naked? Only when I ask. But maybe that is because I tend to go to regular massage shops where also ladies work? I pick a boy from who I see sitting outside. Maybe in the gay only ones they just go naked by default, but in these regulars this is not the default mode.

Have you considered having the massage in your hotel room? If there's a downside to the typical Thai gay massage it is to be found in the standards of the massage rooms, including the bed. Lack of privacy (I remember an annoying but in retrospect comic experience P and I had in Patong a couple of years back), inadequate showers and, in some cases, dirty surroundings. I recall postings about lack of security in some cases as well, though never in my experience.
You may have to pay a little extra but I find it worthwhile to enjoy the experience in comfort.
If you are staying in Boyztown or (even better) the Jomtien Complex, there are plenty of masseurs a few yards away who will accompany you back to your room..

In answer to As Da Ra, why not try the gay massage places? Surawong/Silom, Patong, Pattaya, Chiang Mai have plenty.

I have. The ones on Surawong road itself are not gay only, are they? But in the Tawan alley and further ahead there are some whats looks to be gay only massages. But I never had that a boy goes naked all by himself. Maybe 1 or 2 times this has happened, but in general I really have to ask.

In Bangkok I tend to go to places on Surawong road, like Art Massage. They are not gay only but every boy there does happy ending. And they have my type: twinks. But they do not go naked by default there. Never had that experience there.

And last time I also went to places in that Tawan alley. You go to the left on Surawong. Straight ahead passing that Mango Tree restaurant to the left (and right) are some gay only massage places with twinks also. I went twice there and the boy didn't go naked when giving the massage.

But I guess the guy who wrote this only goes to these very few places where this is indeed normal and he assumes this is everywhere the case. I think for the huge majority of massage places you have to ask explicitly if he please will go naked.

When I go for massages in Pattaya it is rare that the masseur goes naked. I have to ask them to disrobe during the happy ending period.

Masseur starting massage naked happend only once to me (that I remember): in The Bridge Massage (near Saphan Khwai BTS). All other dozens massage places / masseurs either fully dressed or underwear.

Massage with happy ending is a wide field, and I didn't have much luck.

There are plenty of possible pitfalls:
no water or no hot water in bathroom, if possible I take shower in my room before going to massage;
light, aircon, fan, music, level of privacy not to my liking;
masseur's idea of happy ending different from mine (massage was fully clothed, at the end he was out of reach of my hands and asked me if I wanted a handjob, I declined);

For a little bit more money (drink and off-fee) I can have a good look/chat/grope at the boy in underwear in a gogo bar; for a little bit less money (1000 THB) I can have a boy from online coming to my room. (Price comparison based on what I pay: 400 THB for one hour oil massage, tip 300 for just massage, add 500 for happy ending mutual wanking.)

I usually don't bother with places where you have to go inside or even worse, chose from pictures. 90% of my massages are at places where staff is sitting outside, and if I spot one I like, I have massage with him.

While oil is fine for massage, it's a nuisance for sex. I will try Thai massage instead of oil massage. Last year in Myanmar, I had several oil massages and the first half was dry and I liked it.

arsenal, your post has reminded me of the only occasion I visited a massage parlour and the masseur was fully clothed for the majority of my one hour massage.

I checked my 2018 diary and noted that on February 27th, 2018 I recorded that, on the advice of a friend in Bangkok; I visited D D Massage. My friend gave me the impression I would have a jolly good time which, after my experience, led me to query what he regarded as a good time! :)

Anyhow, along I trotted to D D Massage which, if members want to avoid it, it is almost opposite BTS Sala Daeng and close to Burger King/ D J Station nightclub on Silom Road, Bangkok. When I arrived, there was a small group of male and female staff sitting or standing outside the entrance to a short alleyway on Silom Road. A rather eager masseur encouraged me to check out their menu and offered to give me a very good massage. He wasn’t the most attractive masseur I have ever seen, but if memory serves me well, he may have been the best of a bad bunch.

I therefore decided to take a risk with my over enthusiastic masseur and chose the 400 Baht oil massage. After I showered, I was led to a dimly lit massage room. At this point, in my experience, the masseur normally goes off to shower and returns with a towel wrapped around his waist, or he has showered with you, or in a shower stall next to you. He did none of these and proceeded to give, what I will admit, was a very good massage, but, unfortunately, fully clothed.

Let me say it was clear from the start that he was gay and the conversation during the massage confirmed my first impression. And, as the massage progressed, let me say, it was all too clear that he was gay, or at least not averse to some gay hanky-panky.

Then at the midway point, which I classified as part two, in my earlier posts, I asked him to take off his clothes. His reaction was akin to as if I had asked him to take off his clothes on a public street. I think he was concerned that others might hear us, or maybe masseurs weren’t meant to have sex with their customers, I don’t really know. My memory is a bit hazy, but I think he may have just dropped his trousers and pants. He certainly was not fully naked.

There then followed a rather unsatisfactory episode, which to be honest, I would rather forget. And throughout this experience the thought occurred to me, when did he last shower? This rather put me off my stroke, as it were – LOL!

Now, to bring this rather sorry tale to an end, I paid him the standard 1,000 Baht, which was probably too much, given the look of delight/surprise [?] on his face.

After I showered and dressed, he led me back downstairs and said he hoped to see me again. Not if I see you first was my unspoken thoughts at the time. :rolleyes:

I spent a further two months in Bangkok and had occasion to walk past D D Massage many times. Whenever he saw me, he and his colleagues would try to persuade me to have another massage, but I politely declined on each occasion, thinking to myself, once bitten, twice shy.

Not recommended, is my considered opinion, although if any other members have more positive reviews of this place to report, then I would certainly be glad to read them.

That's a fair reflection but I too prefer twinks and have enjoyed naked masseurs in a variety of places in Chiang Mai, Patong and Pattaya. I'd say Arena in Bangkok too but I stopped going there when the supply of twinks dried-up.

How do you explain that Christian and me don't experience this? (Of course after asking it happens, I am talking about the default mode, where they just undress at the start of the massage all by themselves, without you asking for it ). Why don't we experience this?

Well, AsDaRa, I don’t know about the imposter, Jellebean, whoever he is, but the real McCoy, Jellybean is, I can assure you, not into muscled lads. If I am into any type at all, it would be the boy next door type. I speak of those in the Goldilocks zone, a term now adopted by cosmologists to describe planets in the habitable zone of their star. A term which I believe is, apposite, to describe masseurs and even go-go boys that are not too skinny, not too muscled or not too fat. In short, those of whom I am inclined to say when I see them, "Ahhh . . . this lad, is just right." ;)

As your first port of call, AsDaRa, why don’t you try Bangkok Massage (check out its location on the map provided by Sen Yai). I don’t ever recall seeing a muscled masseur practising under their brand name.

Too abrasive. and had to abort "happy ending".
Out of service for couple days.

Also: do not trust a "shart" after long flights.

Don't worry about my forum name, AsDaRa, I was only teasing, like the Devil, I answer to a variety of names. ;)

The main problem in me recommending places, is that I have not been in Bangkok since April 2018, and since then the bars and two massage parlours that were once located on 'Soi Twilight' have closed. Not all venues have, as far as I am aware, moved to new locations.

Prior to the move there were two massage parlours, Bonny Massage being one and Bangkok Massage being the other. Both I believe would have catered for what you appear to be looking for. I used both venues on a regular basis and the massages were conducted by naked masseurs and, in some cases, the masseur showered with the customer at the beginning and at the end.

But, unless I have failed to spot it, I have not read of Bonny Massage being relocated. If another member has more up to date information, it would be helpful to receive the latest info'. If it has also relocated, then I thoroughly recommend Bonny Massage.

With regard to the Prince, well that’s a different kettle of fish. Many of the masseurs are indeed muscular, or at least they were the last time I visited. But what I found was there were a small selection of non-muscular guys which appealed to my taste in men. Of course, the only way for you to decide if they are your type is to visit it. The same applies to Senso Massage.

And, as for Christian, well, only he can fully answer your question.

Almost all my Thai male massage encounters over the past few years have seen the boy go naked - one I recall kept his shorts on - but not for long.

Amazing this difference. Now replying to Old git. I go each holiday at least twice a day to massage. Sometimes (like in Jomtien) gay only massage places. And never a boy goes naked there by default. Never!

It seems I live in an alternate universe or some of guys are joking here, implying it is the most common thing in Thailand that the massage boys go naked by default. I visit gay only places also. I am sure Christian also. Why do we have both such a radically different experience compared to some above?

Yes, now I remember, in Arena as well masseur naked from beginning. Possibly in Zy (former Lomchoey Soi Ngam Duplee) as well. Let's say in 1 out of 5 massages (Bankok and Pattaya) I had, masseur started massage naked.

I have never been to massage in Chiang Mai, can't judge about there.

The other 4 out of 5, partially or fully dressed. When fully dressed, there are those who are reluctant to take their clothes off and try to get away with "shirt up (rolled up to their chest), pants down (to their knees)", which is not arousing to me. In such case, with widely varying ideas of a Happy Ending, I sometimes sum up the determination to say "no happy ending, just massage" and tip accordingly (300 THB).

My encounter is the exact opposite. Especially when I go naughty massage places the boys will do and initiate everything. Like taking their clothes off, oil me up etc. Many times I go to a gogo bar and my success ratio is 1/4 only. Many times I am stuck with one if not two dead fish in my room.

I hope I am not making an assumption here but could it be because Christianpfc is a top and i am not? Or Christianpfc is simply a boy magnet? :)
