I was surprised to find this great video purporting to be Soi Twilight in the 1940's.

I wasn't visiting Thailand in those days (late developer) so I don't know whether the Soi was operational in the 40's.

Maybe some of the Bangkok Fossil Freaks can confirm...

It's NOT a great video.

Has a couple of old photos of Bangkok, then ONE relatively recent photo of gogo boys turned into black and white.

It doesn’t purport to depict Soi Twighlight in the 1940s either. Whilst the commentary is in Cantonese, the subtitles in English clearly state that the whole Silom area was occupied by Chinese cemeteries and ‘wild lands’ back then.

I would be surprised if go go boys in the ‘40s wore Calvin Klein tightly-whites!

At the beginning of the video, a bold accretion is made that “most of today’s visitors from Hong Kong and Taiwan call upon the services of a Prostitute.” I wonder if that is true.
