View Full Version : Hello Playmates!

I haven't gone away, you know (NIrish, colmx, Ronan - you might get the reference). I've become a lurker. I read the forum regularly, but don't feel I've anything to contribute at the moment, so don't post (oh, please, don't start again, I hear you cry).

I hadn't planned a visit to Thailand for a couple of years, but I'm looking at unlocking my very small pension fund and may be able to go back sooner than expected. So a couple of questions.

On my last visits, I've stayed at Mosaik and Yensabai. I'd happily stay at either one again. Are there now other similar places I should look at? I like to be close to Sunee, but is that now a dead zone? Should I look elsewhere? I prefer the privacy of an apartment over a hotel.

So what are you doing with your life, Joe? Well, I consider myself a full-time writer. The Irish government, perversely, considers me unemployed. A couple of members bought my book "Home to Si Saket" - I'm very grateful to them. In all, I've published 9 books (ok, self-published, all available on Amazon). I'm now on the 4th in a series about an 18 year old Dubliner who joins the Royal Navy to see the world. Check out 'Bound for Valparaiso'.

And my final question for today - am I the only gay man who doesn't fuck? I've been looking for a playmate, and as soon as I say I don't fuck, they go silent. I've been locked in my garret for too long

I hope you are well. I enjoy reading of your adventures. Stay happy!

Hope all of you are well. I'll keep you posted on my plans (whether you like it or not).

Joe no big changes in Sunee since your last visit.Yensabi looks very shabby lately, Mosaic is a bit worn but well situated in either place you won’t be able to avoid the Arabs, as for fucking do they really want fuck you or are they less than pleased you do not want to fuck them?

you won’t be able to avoid the Arabs,

Two ways of avoiding them if you are flexible with dates.
1. Come during Ramadan
2. Come during their coldest weather (they escape their heat and come to Pattaya). So anytime between December and March is good.

The best way to avoid meeting people of different races is to barricade yourself in your fortress in your own country, like Citizen Kane. Those pesky foreigners! how dare they spoil your foreign holidays.
Please wear a red-neck identification- whatever that is....a white sheet?- or a MAGA cap so that the rest of us can keep clear.

Hello joe552! Great to see you back posting again.

To answer one of your questions, I believe cndmatt has, on more than one occasion, informed us that he is not a fan of fucking. Incidentally, and slightly off topic, as we haven’t heard much from cdnmatt recently, I wonder if he has left Canada and moved to Laos.

And tell me, Joe, were you ever a fan of the British comedian Arthur Askey?

I was lucky that I was able to sell the condo I lived in it became a favorite for Arabs, the worst time was in the summer when mostly Kuwaiti guys come as it is their summer break, the first thing they do is get the biggest motorcycle they can rent, sleep all day and tear around Sunee from evening through 8:00 am, they have a total disregard for others ignoring no smoking signs leaving their garbage in the hallways and their doors open.

No. I have two friends who do not engage in anal intercourse at all and are happy and have no problem finding partners in Thailand, and for me it's not important.

I call it "cultural imperialism of the pornographic industry". Nowadays it's safe to assume that every boy in the world has watched a lot of porn before engaging int he real thing. And most porn is about fucking, that's why most people can't think outside "top/bottom".

I used not to like that question "Are you top or bottom" early in a conversation, but know I have gotten to like it, because the alternatives are "Can I borrow 2000 THB for rent" and "No sex before marriage".

I've been locked in my garret for too long.I understand Noel Coward had no interest in anal sex so you're in good company. I had a 3sum with a Thai and a really good-looking Cambodian guy late last year (they must have been visiting Houston, I suppose). The only thing the Cambodian would do was take the active role in fucking because "I a man"

Yes Joe, I found him a very funny man. And like you, he is a childhood memory of mine.

And were you a fan of any of the following from roughly the same time period: Billy Bunter, Jimmy Edwards in Whacko, Mr Pastry, The Little Rascals (I saw them every Saturday morning at the Odeon Cinema, which we referred to as the "pictures"), Tony Hancock, Charlie Drake, Ken Dodd and Frankie Howerd. And from the USA – Laurel & Hardy and Abbot & Costello.

"And were you a fan of...Laurel & Hardy..."

The recent movie, Stan & Ollie is a master class in how to make a masterpiece on a miniscule budget. $10m.
Quite superb and the deft, dry as a bone humour is provided by the exceptional supporting cast playing the wives and the tour manager, Bernard Delfont.

Trivia point. Stan Laurel went to America on the same boat as Charlie Chaplin and worked as his understudy for a while.

Well, well, well frequent, no I was not aware that Jimmy Edwards was in the closet – see the extract below from Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Edwards):

He was married to Valerie Seymour for 11 years. During the 1970s, however, he was outed as a homosexual, to his annoyance. After the ending of his marriage, press reports spoke of his engagement to Joan Turner, the actress, singer and comedian, but the reports were suspected to be a mutual publicity stunt. During the 2015 Gold documentary Frankie Howerd: The Lost Tapes Edwards was mentioned by Barry Cryer as one of several performers of the post-war era forced to conceal their homosexuality due to prevailing norms. He lived in Fletching, East Sussex and died from pneumonia in London in 1988 at the age of 68

I wholeheartedly agree arsenal, Stan & Ollie (https://youtu.be/MdcBNrjc3wo)was one of the best movies I have seen in a very long time. Although, surprisingly sad at times.

Hurray for Harold Lloyd !! That's all I'm saying - ok carbon date away there - but you'll be wrong anyway :-)

Our pictures were just mean and played loads of oldies ( a bit like the boys in Pattaya now that I think of it ! :-))) But at least you could pay in with a jam jar sometimes apparently and or crash the emergency exit to let all your mates in free before "the man" came, only thing you learnt quickly not to do was sit down at the front as you could end up with wet feet on a saturday morning when the dirty lazy buggers behind you didn't want to miss any of the film !!! They were a tough bunch in Sandy row they were ! :)

Me personally I was more a Champion the Wonder Horse, the Lone Ranger and and Flash Gordon ( the original ) sort of guy - and one who always used the facilities - see, cruising the bogs even way back then it seems ! lol

One of my favourite monologues is Frankie Howerd sending up Harold Macmillan’s budget by blaming “Dot” - Macmillan’s wife Lady Dorothy - https://youtu.be/YjVIpwqquDA. In the BBC mockumentary W1A there’s a Frankie Howerd room with some of his best known quips all over the walls

"After living in Jomtien for 9 yrs..........I have many reasons to have left and moved north 4.5 yrs ago. T V rules don’t allow bashing places in Thailand and I was sanctioned for it before...........if. You have lived in Pattaya Jomtien area for any amount of time.......use your imagination. Pattaya is a sole.....one purpose destination. If you just spent 28 days offshore or 8-12 weeks in the Middle East or some other crap place and you want to go drink and play and get stress relieved Pattaya is for you. Beyond that........there is no attraction"

"The one purpose destination" happens to be one which is barely accessible elsewhere for us more mature gentlemen, or at least not so comfortably and safely. Don't knock it!
Not that I'd ever dream of living there....London remains, of course, the Centre of the Universe and we Londoners the most fortunate citizens of the world. At least until Brexit turns us all into Little Englanders.

"Pattaya, a one purpose destination!"
Clearly not doing it right.

Great food literally on every street corner.
Great sex. Ditto.
Great countryside to ride a motorbike around.
Great shopping if that's your thing.
Two world class water parks. Again if that's your thing.
Great hotels for every budget.
Great sense of expectations as the night falls.
Great place to party. Very unusual not to find a party swinging until 3 or 4am in one of the gay areas.
3 Great gay areas. *
Great (magnificent) golf courses. About 30 within an hours drive.
Great people who are very forgiving of foreigners and their ways.
Great go go bars with boys in underwear available to offer sexual services at an incredibly reasonable price. Currently 10 which is 10 more than anywhere else.

* Sure. Not as great as in times of yore but still pissing all over the rest of the world.

Well, didn't this turn into an interesting thread? Rather like a night in the bar, where the conversation veers from one topic to another. Jellybean, of the people you mention, my favourite is Tony Hancock. His show with Sid James is brilliant. And of course, Frankie Howerd. I didn't know about Jimmy Edwards either.

I still don't know if I'm actually going or not, but I'm hopeful. Arsenal, I agree with your assessment - apart from the water parks and golf. I don't think I could live there though. Thanks for all the replies, on and off topic.

Plus a couple of international standard polo clubs.
The best zoo I've ever been to.
Flight of the Gibbon.
Parasailing, windsurfing, paragliding, snorkelling, scuba diving, jet skiing (DON'T).
An aquarium.
A dolphin show.
Bang Saray, still a genuine sleepy fishing village.
Go-carting.
Off road biking or driving.
And the world's greatest collection of truly rubbish visitor attractions where you can get up close and personal with the horrors of a Chinese tour group.

Someone mentioned elephant plaza. I’m actually passing through Pattaya and my usual Mosaik isn’t available. So I’m trying this Elephant Plaza. I can imagine it’s very simple and no thrills. I can imagine it’s very simple and no thrills.

Yep, that sums it up perfectly.

I've stayed there on numerous occasions over the years.

It is a bit run-down but the room is cleaned every day and it is actually quite large, especially the bathroom. And the WiFi is fine. Check the air-conditioner to make sure it's not noisy.

Just don't be tempted to sit on the sofa - I don't think it has ever been cleaned and is held together but the copious amounts of cum sqirted on it over the years.

Oh, and there is no elevator, so best get a room on a lower floor if you can't handle steep stairs.

I stayed there a few years ago. It was nice enough..but one design feature threw me off.
The glass walled bathroom! When I am on the toilet loosening my bowels, doing a colon evacuation, doing a discharge in the poo basin ..etc. I don't like the feeling I am in a fish bowl with someone else possibly watching.

I agree the demise of sunee has been long predicted but Sunee does seem to be on the decline. I was in pattaya last summer and Sunee does seem to have gotten darker with fewer bars. I will visit this summer and will stay in jomtien which seems more lively.

Sunee seems run down and derelict so maybe the predicted soon demise is true??
