When I was last in Sunee, in June, I was talking to Mama Pay at the Sunee Plaza Bar (plastic chairs). She was complaining that Sunee was bereft of gay farang and that many had, in recent years, left for Cambodia and Vietnam. But, where would they go? Surely Siem Reap and Phnom Penh isn't a patch on Pattaya in terms of 'available' company? I've never been to Cambodia but I think I may when I visit Thailand in a few weeks from now. My main concern, however, is the lack of excellent health care clinics/hospitals (so I am informed).

Vietnam? Where on earth would equate with the 'scene' that exists in Pattaya? Is there some beach equivalent to Pattaya that I've missed?

I flew into Saigon fifteen years ago and flew out again the next day. Pavements were awash with rats and scores of rickshaw drivers followed me around shouting, "Hey, Johnny!" and irritating the hell out of me.

Kate Melua was certain there were nine million bicycles in Beijing but I'm sure there were as many, if not more, in Ho Chi Minh City! I guess it's all changed: I should go back.

I'm just from Vietnam and can certify: Saigon is heaven for tops as well as Vung Tau (city on the sea just in 75-90 min from Saigon by car)... I never had so many offers of "meetings" for free in Bangkok and Pattaya per week, as I had in SGN and VT per day...

Blued, Hornet and Grindr made sounds every 3-5 minutes (about 75% of offers were from moneyboys)

UK friend of mine moved from Pattaya to Siem Reap... The air quality is awful there (not pollution, red dust) and when he needed urgent medical care he had to travel by ambulance all the way to a hospital in Korat (350 km) to find proper western care.

Whilst there were quite a few ex-pat gays in SR... there would barely be enough of them to fill a bar the size of Vassa!

Now, Vung Tau I have heard of. It sounds interesting. Are you saying, Moses, that some of the guys do not seek financial recompense for their time?

Do please PM me if you have specific areas of interest to recommend.

SGN: Republic bar (do not mix with Republic club), Thi bar. Both were totally packed at both weekends what I was in SGN. "Totally packed" means it is hard to enter and to find place even to stay. At both places you should reserve tables quite in advance if you want to have seat. Republic - DJ music, mostly local crowd, Thi - live music mixed crowd (expats/locals 50/50).

Vung Tau: south end of Back beach, last 150-200 meters, after 4pm.

Well, if I am stuck in a loud & crowded bar, the objective is to get a willing lad out of there and back to my hotel as fast as possible.
Are they really willing to go?

If not, I prefer to quit ASAP and go somewhere quiet with armchairs.

"A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush" goes the saying.

A boy in my bed is worth thousands in a club, unless they all happen to be wearing Speedos and badges with numbers.

Poshglasgow asked.
Where do the gay Farang go when they leave Thailand?

Well many of them go to either the morgue or the poorhouse depending on the height of the balcony.

If they are an ex bar owner and doing a runner they could go anywhere.

Otherwise back home!

there should be another order of steps:
1. you receive offer from boy in application and accept it
2. (optional, but I like it) you have fun together in bar/clubs
3. you have fun in your hotel
4. you have breakfast
[you repeat steps 2 and 3]

That's not entirely accurate, arsenal, and you know it. Most of them retire to their coffins just before dawn and are awaken by their loyal assistants just after dusk.

I'd be upset too if my name was Posh and some random Vietnamese reduced me to a mere Johnny.

You mean to say that unlike Pattaya sexpats, the Siem Reap expats are all super slim - that's good news, isn't it?

That's not quite true Sglad and you know it. They're not assistants they're care workers.

I was in Vietnam twice in 2016 and my impressions were positive. But in the end, I like dark skinned boys and Myanmar and Cambodia score much higher than Vietnam. I can do with light-skinned boys, but I take all that business to Taiwan (figuratively, I don't pay for sex in Taiwan).

The geographical and social relation between Saigon and Vung Tao is the same like Bangkok and Pattaya.

Reading stickman, there is a migration from Thailand to Cambodia. I know one Farang who left Thailand for Taiwan.

and-as has also been said here many times-for Khmer guys who are good at s, better just stay in TH, they have all migrated to here.
Its all grossly overhyped (the original posting) by some figures who went foul about that new requirement of Thai immi for long-stay poor devils.

A friend (now dead) used to say that the Japanese were best because they were more more aggressive. Both are generalisations I know, but you can almost guarantee a good time with a Japanese boy; Thais are hit-and-miss which is why I keep my notes - although not as obsessively as christian as evidenced on his blog. Fortunately everyone can improve; I had two Thai boys (together) last weekend and the second of the two was a last-minute "oh damn there's really no-one else at short notice" call-up, but he surpassed himself. The last Khmer guy I had, way back in November, had a fabulous face and body, and a large cock which he used to great effect on the Thai boy who brought him along. However from him there was nothing oral because "I'm a man" - although he didn't mind being rimmed at all :bo:

Do you mind tell your age?

In 1995, the year of my first visit to Pattaya, many of the guys I offed had little idea what was expected of them and I quickly discovered that older guys were the best bet.
Since then, the arrival of gay porn, accessible on mobiles and enjoyed educationally (sic), has improved performance.

For many years I planned on a LOS retirement. However, as I am getting older chasing thai guys has become less important.
In April I will take a trip to Ecuador to scout around as a possible retirement spot. This summer I will spend some time in Tbilisi Georgia. The nice thing about the Republic of Georgia is it has a 365 day visa on arrival for USA passport holders - and it is very affordable. My foster son's classmate (an italian girl) went to Tbilisi for 10 days and she loved it. Maybe a peripatetic lifestyle is the answer for me. During the winter months - 4 months in the LOS then off to destinations with more temperate summer weather.

Kitty,
Two things I would be sure to take into consideration would be the stability of the country, and the ease of communication in the country you pick. Getting older often means that you do not move as fast as you use to, and you could be caught if the country becomes unstable. Communications is, how many people speak English or how well do you speak the language? Me, I would take Ecuador, and as Frequent often points out, learn Spanish and it is good in many countries.

An interesting discussion MIGHT be what do gay expats look for when contemplating long term travel or relocation.
Stability of a country is a broad idea..political, economic, social, etc. and communication. I lived in China for 6 years..my Chinese is bad..but that was OK..I got around with a phrase book.

For me..I am looking for someplace with temperate weather, low cost of living, an expat community, an interesting history to explore, cute and willing (or at least willing at a price) local guys, decent food.
The LOS is an attractive option for me during the winter months but it is just too hot during most of the year.
