The movie won Globes for Best Motion Picture - Drama; Best Director; Best Screenplay - Motion Picture; and Best Original Song ("A Love That Will Never Grow Old"). Nothing for either of the male or the two female supporting actors, however. Still, I guess this makes it a favorite for the Oscars.

Brokeback Mountain,' 'Walk the Line' big Golden Globes winners

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. - The Golden Globes, once again, played it loose. The first big awards show of the season was its usual party-atmosphere self.

The Globes boosted the Oscar prospects of the gay cowboy drama, "Brokeback Mountain," which won four awards, including best dramatic film. The Johnny Cash biopic, "Walk the Line," was named best musical or comedy and its stars, Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, won acting awards.

But for television viewers who have grown accustomed to stiff, dull awards shows, the Globes delivered some entertainment with its trophies. Whether the alcohol served to audience members as they waited helped, only the bartenders know for sure.

If you are going to see this film with your Thai boy(friend), make sure it has subtitle ( either Thai or English! ). The cowboys' accents are very hard to understand. Nonetheless, it brought tears in my eyes at the end.

but the Christians don't like the awards: "Golden Globe winners spark righteous anger
From Chris Ayres in Los Angeles
CHRISTIAN groups led a furious campaign against Hollywood yesterday, accusing the Golden Globe Awards of promoting films with gay or тАЬleftistтАЭ themes to serve a political agenda.
The criticism was made after Brokeback Mountain, a film about the forbidden love between gay Wyoming cowboys, won four awards. Other winners included Philip Seymour Hoffman, named Best Actor for his portrayal of the homosexual writer Truman Capote; and Felicity Huffman, the Desperate Housewives actress who played a transsexual with a gay prostitute son in Transamerica.
тАЬOnce again, the media elites are proving that their pet projects are more important than profit,тАЭ Janice Crouse, of Concerned Women for America, said. тАЬNone of the three movies тАФ Capote, Transamerica or Brokeback Mountain тАФ is a box office hit. Brokeback Mountain has barely topped $25 million (┬г14.2 million) in ticket sales. If America isnтАЩt watching these films, why are they winning the awards?тАЭ http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 92,00.html (http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,11069-1990992,00.html)

The real Christian agenda? "... the media elites are proving that their pet projects are more important than profit.тАЭ For the US Christian right wing, nothing but nothing is more important than money!

For the US Christian right wing, nothing but nothing is more important than money!
But of course - they believe it's God's way of showing their righteousness. The poor are godless
