Last night was the first time in many months that I walked through the complex and was impressed with the number of grey haired farang that were present in most of the bars however, I was looking for other entertainment and quickly left. What is noticeable is that the average age of the farang whenever I’ve been to the complex is 65+ and they are there to drink and socialize with each other, the boys seem merely to be servers and ornaments.

What is your age? I have been a member for this forum and preceeding forums and you have always been here. Are you suggesting you are still under 65.

You did not look far and as the title suggested Zac's bar ,perhaps you should have at least looked there.
Sorry my back hurts from laughing at your post, what a comedian you are.

There are several waves that go through the complex.Late afternoon and early evening. The bar boys who do not get paid come early about 4/5 ,some do well.
Before or after dinner who wish to refresh or make their day. Certainly they are there to drink or socialise. But there are no disco's. What do you expect.

Those who live in the complex or the beach condo''s, often leave through the short cut around Dicks or the lanes between the complex . If you are propped up near Poseiden end, you probably miss these leaving. In fact get a wrong idea.

Later the third wave come in and the boys know this is where the offs really take place.

You seem to be getting bitter the older you get. The idea that the BBB area or Sunee did not have men who socialise with each other, makes you sound like a loner

Lonely, f.y.i. I retired here 16 yrs ago I was 50 most of my friends were in their 50’s as we have entered our sixties the younger expats seem to have disappeared most notably in the complex and yes in Sunee as well. You must be spending a lot of time in the complex as you appear to know hourly the comings and goings of those that go there. I do not go there often as I prefer to go to a go go and most of my socializing is done over meals.

In my last 3 trips over the the last 6 months I was in Pattaya for half that time. I choose to eat not only in the complex, but other restaurents close by. There are 5 restaurents in the Complex and more than a dozen in walking distance. Most of your socialising is done over meals. Mine is over dinner and socialising in the complex.
Sure I have met a lot of Cambodian and Lao boys as well as Thai, Are we forbidden by your rules to chat with them. Unlike other locations they are willing to join you at the table and of course we talk shop at times.
Instead of getting personal of others that do things different, perhaps you could take a leaf out of their books and try being sociable . You could well be surprised.

Many of the latecomers do not eat early and come to Jomtien to get an appetite. I have heard that some of these sleep until 9 or 10 and come out looking for friendly faces. Some look for boys to take for dinner first to check them out, others go to late night clubs and I have been told that food and drink has also been set up in condo's, for willing lads interested in visiting,
One boy told me too hot in condo, so everybody gets naked. Another has a personal pool.

The use of “dolled up” by latintopxxx took me down memory lane. I don’t think I’ve heard that expression since childhood or perhaps in an old black and white movie. And I doubt very much that I’ve ever used it. But perhaps it’s time I did –

A new 'restaurant' has opened on Soi VC, about 20 meters up on the same side as the bold Colonial Bar. I popped in yesterday. I ordered sweet and sour shrimp but it was pork that showed up and cut with the grain of the meat was inedible. The French fries were cold. The water was fine. I paid the 210 baht and left, still hungry.

Straight down to Lovely Indian Restaurant opposite Boyztown. No other customers and there was no air con. I asked the owner if he could point the fan at me and he said I could move to another table. So I did, another table in another restaurant.

If you'd like to visit either of these 'hospitality' establishments I suggest you do so quite soon.

The hot dogs from the place on the corner of Jomtien Complex opposite Tinnies are fantastic and my favourite 2.00am snack.

Somewhat confusing, you criticise people your age who socialise over a drink or 3 maybe more at the Complex.
You then claim you do all your socialising over dinner.
Now you talk about you and your friends actually engage in ??????? instead of having a drink or 3, at dinner????
I suggest you quit now rather that push on with your complaint that people your age and older, actually have a good time enjoying drinks and pleasant company in the complex. But not you.

Down to Bacca Beach, An Italian restaurant south of Jomtien. Past 10pm so largely desserted. Simple chefs salad which was fine but the complimentary bread selection was excellent. Riotous times in Nice Boys last night. A lovely gay Thai Couple canoodled with each other while inviting the boys to come and get naked and drink a shot of whiskey, for a generous tip of course.

So to Le Petite Planete for dinner and it was very good.
Shrimp cocktail was nicely presented in a scallop shell and had slivers of avocado to go with the firm prawns.
The mixed fish grill consisted of slabs of salmon and cod with prawns and a mussel. It smelt as if someone had chucked Grimsby on the barbecue. Drenched in parsley butter and served with lemon it was the best fish 'n' chips ever. Divine actually.
Dessert. A deceptively light banana and apricot crepe with apricot sauce, vanilla ice cream and whipped cream. Mouthful after mouthful of calorie laden deliciousness.
With water and a coffee the entire bill came to a ridiculously good value 400 baht.

Kicked around a few places and then back to X-Boys to watch the show. Then to Nice Boys for some high quality gropery. Nudity was the order of the day.

Down to Boys Music for a Beckham moment. I clocked a stunning looking boy. He was beautiful and stood on stage scowling and projecting serious attitude like a Thai James Dean. I asked Mr Speakeasy to bring him for a drink but what came back was he didn't go with farangs, he only liked ladies, Chinese and Thais. Oh and he didn't speak English either apparently. Whichever excuse was the genuine one didnt matter, he wasn't coming with me. Oh well.

A few minutes later James Dean was passing and I said hello and shook his hand. And that was the Beckham moment. You know, when someone speaks and immediately the appeal disappears. James Dean was replaced by Jerry Lewis and my interest was gone.

Even here in Pattaya-on-sea, a tropical paradise for the hedonistically minded it's not all perfect. A few niggles.

An increasing number of unbelievably loud motorbikes that sound like jet engines being ridden about the place.

More and more riders deciding to turn right on the diagonal rather than the right angle thereby cutting right across your lane.

The police down in the little hut at the far end of Jomtien still behaving as if they own the place. Was he drunk?, I don't know. He was sweating profusely and his speech seemed slurred.
This compares to the police everywhere else who are models of politeness and actually enjoy a little banter.

A very average looking boy in Eros who didn't smoke but thought he was worth 1500 baht for an hour.

The one shop owner in about 6 years who charged me more than the correct price for an iced coffee.

Preecha Seafood restaurant down in Bang Saray although I think there is another one somewhere. Nice meaty prawns with fried garlic, Chinese broccoli with salted fish and crab fried rice. All relatively simple and all executed well. Complimentary fresh pineapple is served after the meal but I asked for it with because it goes so well with the shrimp. With a large water the cost was 460 baht. Served with a lovely view across the bay.

On the way back to Pattaya I called into The Glasshouse for a coffee and dessert. The latte was fine but after adding the sugar the spoon provided is too small so you end up with your fingers in the drink. They used to serve a sugar stick that dissolved as you twiddled it. The brownie was fine but initially served fridge cold. I had it warmed but it still came in its foil container without a whirl of cream or ice cream.
There's nothing fundamentally wrong with this place but they've lost a bit of class in recent years. I wonder who's cheap enough to post the word 'apposite' below. Haha. Let's see.

I offed a boy from Power Boys and he was wonderful, happily delivering on everything we'd agreed. However the actual visit to the bar was less so with the owner shouting and screeching and pointing to each boy in turn. As if I was unable to see them for myself.

Earlier on in Toy Boys there was a row of 10, five of whom were customers and the other five go go boys. Only the clothing differentiated the two. I've noticed that more young and rather attractive customers are visiting the go go bars.

Boyztown remains a great place for people watching including the exuberant/eccentric farang who dances up and down the soi.

In a rare outbreak of sensible pricing BBB now offers 90 baht for beer or whiskey and 60 baht for soft drinks served on the terrace.

The huge array of huge motorbikes parked outside says either the boys are doing very well or Thailand now offers very easy credit.

or Thailand now offers very easy credit.
Unfortunately this is now true

When we were going to Buriram just after New Year and completely against the general flow of traffic it was never more obvious, with all the red plated Ford, Mitsubishi and Chevrolet pickups and SUVs

BFs sister couldn't afford the minibus back to Buriram after her fathers funeral in December, on FB yesterday she posted pics of her brand new Chevvy Jeep

Similarly Khmer friend that works in BT also had a fancy bike, he broke up with is Thai BF recently... and had to give the bike back... The Thai guys name was on the HP agreement...

Hi Arsenal,

I enjoy your restaurant reviews. I know that you take (and seem to absorb) some of the digs from others in good grace, but I find that the photos of the various dishes speak volumes. I welcome the fact that you give an indication of price too.

I often have dinner along the soi adjacent to Tukcom, when I stay at Mosaik.

Keep up the reviews!

I've been limiting my visits to Pattaya to 4,5 days because I always find myself going stir crazy after the fourth day and the niggles starting to niggle. Having followed the reports & reviews of arsenal, gerefan, colmx, travel jim, etc i realize that I've been confining myself to too small an area and there's so much more to Pattaya to be seen & experienced and I'm going to plan my next trip differently. Keep up the good work guys & thank you for sharing. And please ignore the haters who only criticize and contribute nothing.

I stay for a month at a time
4 maybe 5 times a year
MFAS criticizes me for posting about Yupins. I am on their mailing list..Very few restaurants promote themselves as Yupins. GREAT VALUE
But I dine at a dozen restaurants and doubt if I would see MFAS in any.
Gerefan says he stays 3 months at a time.My flight time is 9 hours + or -.
That is why I prefer more trips shorter duration

Nice post Eddie and I think you'll find that everyone has little niggles here in Pattaya but then we have them in our home countries too.

As for dining. The water should really be opened at the table. The fried eggs should be funny unless requested otherwise. Does the child really need to have the repetitive show played so loud? I haven't finished my starter so why are you trying to give me the main course? The missing breakfast item is inconsequential, but it's still missing. Why is it impossible to catch the waiter's/waitress's eye without getting up to go and speak to them? Why does the fried rice take so long when everything else has been here for 5 minutes.

Of course, all of the above are weighed up against the cost, the quality of the food and all the other fantabulastical things on offer.

Good and bad. TIT.

Down to Bang Saray and Ruantaray Restaurant located at the far end beyond the two main fishing piers.

This place is noticeably different to Jejuk and Preecha in that it's a more adult style of establishment. There were no kiids that I saw, also the music is played quite a bit lower volumed than the other two places. You're unlikely to have your meal spoiled by computer games as has happened at Jejuk or some twat on his phone as has happened at Preecha.
The setting is gorgeous and the decor more refined. You could take your bs, bf or your bit on the side for a lovely romantic meal here.
Do be aware that from the parking area to the restaurant is about 100 meters so perhaps not for those who have mobility difficulties. There are two types of seating. Beautiful wrought iron gold coloured chairs or cheap plastic ones. Choose the cheap plastic ones which are quite comfy, unless you've got an arse like a rhino the iron ones are horrible to sit on.

To the food. The soft shell crab with garlic was decidedly underwhelming. Well executed with light and crisp enough batter but no discernable taste. Bland.
Fried rice with shrimp was good with four large meaty prawns and served with the usual garnishes plus requested lime.
The sauteed mixed vegetables was an extremely generous serving of crunchy greens, mushrooms, carrots, and mange tout in a pleasant meaty sauce.
Service was lovely and very efficient. With water the bill came to 508 baht which I think is very reasonable. I will absolutely go back to this restaurant. I just won't order the soft shell crab.

Monsieur arsenal headed down to Yupins for dinner. I half expected Looney Wombat to barge in and demand that as I was dining with neither Zac nor his friends I should be moved to the Everything Else section of the restaurant. But he didn't. Disappointed.

A mixed bag food wise. A starter menued as Salad Nicoise wasn't. Nicely presented but an inordinate amount of lettuce and raw onion rings with tomato, egg, choped olives and a little anchovy. No potato, no green beans and no tuna. It was ok but it was basically a plate of Sunday teatime salad.

Main course took a lift upwards. Nicely cooked red snapper and a subtle creamy saffron sauce served with grilled peppers, mushroom and aubergine was pretty good. The garnish of mainly shredded cabbage was undressed and so only served as a garnish.

Dessert was the Thai classic of sticky rice with mango and coconut cream. Little to get wrong here and it was duly delicious.

With a water the bill came to 430 baht which is a fair price and competitive for the area and with the three French based places near Tukcom.

I personally found the restaurant a little claustrophobic and it's long shape means everyone is right next to each other. They also keep the door closed which doesn't help.

Service was lovely.

Cuisine au Beurre is located in the soi next to Tuckom. It's French based but also offers Thai food.

A starter of terrine presented a brick of heavy choked meat on a totally unappetizing bed if shredded cabbage and carrot. Quite salty to taste it lacked even a nod towards style. A spoon of sweet corn relish and half the size would improve the eating and the bottom line. Grim beginnings.

Roast pork as a main course. Nicely cooked pork loin with good flavour and a moist texture garnished with a roasted onion and an apricot. No gravy so so not the real deal. Accompanied by bought frozen mixed diced vegetables.

Peach Melba (named after her, along with the thin toast and no need to post anything else on this thread about her as it's well covered elsewhere) Not much to get wrong here. It's peaches, vanilla ice cream and raspberry sauce and that's what it was.

Service was ok and after 15 minutes of the waiter having a loud mobile conversation on speakerphone I asked him to stop which he duly did, and apologised.

360 baht for the food which is a little more than DD and LPP but coffee is included.

Swampy is now totally non smoking so have your last one before you go through the gate. Don Mung too for that matter.

Nice Boys remains my favourite go go bar of all time but it needs a bit of a polish. Stop the all night eating. I would have offed a few more from there if they hadn't been eating spicy food as you can taste and smell it. Also an improvement on the underwear would benefit the presentation of the product, which is great. A couple of stunning new boys appeared on my penultimate night. Real quality man boys from Chiang Mai plus a twink so captivatingly handsome that even the likes of myself and MFAS would be tempted. Get there early tonight as The Legendary Arsenal has a habit of filling places he recommends. Really he does.

Unlikely but anything else from me will appear here in this thread.

Yes absolutely gorgeous new boys. I saw them a few nights ago when they were in the bar to just look and learn, before actually start working there. But by now they should be on stage in their underwear. I don't think they will have problems to find admirers.

Would you share their numbers or other information to recognize them? Either here or in PM. There are some I would take, but over the years, all I had sit for audition didn't give any sexual vibes, so I resisted the temptation to off them and probably saved a lot of money (meaning, I assume the sex would not have been worth the money). But with recommendation, I would try!

Appendage 2.

A few bits and pieces.
In 24 days I managed to off 12 new boys as well as enjoying the company of 7 old acquaintances. I was able to do this because I was mobile on a motirbike visiting BT, Jomtien, and Sunee at least twice most nights. The boys come and go throughout the evening.

Panorama has gone from full to empty in the blink of an eye so in my opinion it's not a going concern. However it retains excellent potential provided the investment numbers are realistic.

Nice Boys can be great fun after midnight when the boys have mostly come back and have had a few drinks. You'll also be able to negotiate a slight reduction in off fee and tip if you handle it properly. It helps if you know the boy well and have offed him before.
"Hi ???, I can of you if you want but it's only a thousand" has never been refused at that time of night.
I watched some farang go along the boys and suck each one for a while before giving 100 baht tip. You know what to expect when you walk in so don't get moralistic.
Elsewhere a top of 100 baht has been mentioned to fondle cocks and really that's 5 times the accepted rate.

A small altercation between the boys outside a couple of bars was over before I arrived. Later that night (3am) I was riding past and saw T who I've been with many times.
Powder blue T-shirt with a cigarette in his mouth, his black wavy hair blowing gently in the breeze he was just sat there leaning on his motorbike. Maybe somewhere there was a boy looking cooler, more stunning and hotter, but I doubt it.

I asked him about the trouble. He told me that it was nothing and that he'd stopped it before it escalated. And that was what he was doing, just sitting there to ensure that there would be no further trouble. I kissed him and told him what an amazing person he was and when I eventually write the T and I piece you'll see what I mean.

Got to love being stopped by the police for nightly breath testing although I was often simply waved through.

More if I think of anything.

Zac, the ever genial host at @Home Bar belts out a few of the old classics. Not a bad singer as it goes. What's the betting the old reptile posts 'so needy' right after this post. Place your bets. Haha.

Spent some time every evening in the @Home bar on my most recent trip to Pattaya. By far my favourite drinking venue and not just because Zac is a fellow 'jock'. He runs a great bar and works extraordinarily hard at making his customers feel... at home. Indeed, his opening welcome is, "Hello, dear, welcome home!" There are many publicans in the UK who would do well to learn from his tricks of the trade. See you next time, Zac and thank you!
