View Full Version : Election day

Have just read on line ,,that the next general election is planned for the 24th of march,, which is right in the middle of my next two week trip. Going on past elections how will it effect bar closing or is it just the night before and the day itself ?Or is it soft drinks only for those two days?

There is more at stake than the loss of being able to drink for one day!

Correct...the gogo bars will closed, some of the prostitues will go home to vote, the apps will be inundated...
You are quite right MFAS it’s not just the drinking.

Whats that exactly ? Certainly for farang anyway and I doubt actually for the average Thai too - just like in the West in most elections it doesn't really matter WHO gets in as the ordinary people will end up being the ones who end up getting fucked anyway. Being Thailand that's probably literal at least with any luck, but I really doubt aside from that the average Thai person's life has changed much with the advent of any new government "regime".

Anyone else noted a sea change in NIrish-guy since he turned fifty? I’ve noticed a few tell tale signs that he's . . . and it pains me to say it . . . slowly turning into the British TV character, Victor Meldrew. (https://youtu.be/46flaThCYhE)

Yes, I know it's hard to credit it and I'm tempted to say, I don’t believe it, but sadly the evidence is there for all to see.

They do for Muccha Buddha (sp) day but I don’t know about the Election Day.

Who knows (the hotels won’t know!) there hasn’t been an election for 5 years....

You could ask Frequent as he is (allegedly) in Bangkok and (allegedly) the fount of all knowledge.

All the Thai Pattaya guys I know are Red-Shirts...after all, they are predominantly from the poorer sections of society, particularly Isaan. I've never believed that the election will take place but if it were to do so, the parties that the working classes would vote for will be banned. Last week's events gave ample indication of this.

Usually, the bars in the Bangrak district are allowed to start serving alcohol after about 8 pm on voting day.

Whether and how a specific law or regulation is enforced is entirely up the local official in charge - police, immigration, what you will. It also means that when that local official changes, the policy and its enforcement may also change. Or may not

So needy.

So Mods, is it official then, so HAS all moderation now totally ceased on the site and can one now post at will without fear of any moderation or actions being taken whatsoever.

My god it wasn’t that long ago people were being banned for the slightest infringement whereas now anything goes seems to be the order of the day.

Do let us all know if you’re all still moderating at all anymore there won’t you - or perhaps you’ve all just given up the ghost here now too like most of the rest of us now it seems also of late.

PS Arsenal and re your like - maybe possible to have just a little consideration for those who use the "new posts" button and so then have found their inbox flooded with your "so needy" posts today re whatever it is you think you're doing there maybe no ? I mean we know ( you've told us) that you only use the board as a play thing but it is just a tad selfish don't you think. Are you off your meds today perhaps ?

What I really meant to say was no alcohol from 6 pm on the day before until (in theory) midnight on election day (but local police often say OK after about 8pm).

Understood Moses.....and also how forum can look in eyes of users is below when the board is unnecessarily flooded by a member (who should know better).

And RATHER than a MOD HAVING to spend their valuable time reading and dealing with or deleting a load of nonsense posts as below I'm guessing one simple "would you please wise up and stop doing that, YOU should know better" to the offending party ( yes that would be you Arsenal) would and should surely help there.....perhaps that happened, I dont know, that would be a moderating decision of course, but it surely should have I would have thought, well, unless flooding the board IS ok now I guess (for some) - not that I think for one second that Arsenal actually gives a flying fuck either about my post or this board in general of course

One only has tp look at why members are no longer interested in posting. First the abuse from the ELITE POSTERS who correct their english
second it is the abuse they get with an alternative opinion
Third is people like arsenal feels he has 100% freedom to post what he wants, when he wants and criticizes others that disagree.

aot871, Nirish, Brad the Impala and indeed old Looney Wombat. And actually all members.

What the mods and Moses can also see with the very clear timeline is that the four of you all came at me first. Not the other way round. With the exception of the ol' [Deleted text] (see [Deleted text] post below) this is usually the case.

aot871 came into my travelogue thread to complain that Phala Beach has nothing to do with Zac and Friends. Then he asks about a restaurant i posted about so it's difficult to work out exactly what reply from Moses he would want.

Little Brad drops his little Impala presents but other than that who is he? He started on MFAS who gave him the sweetest kick in his 'non functioning' or 'husband verified functioning' equipment. And that shut him right up
.
If Nirish had an ounce of backbone he'd volunteer to be mod for three months, then he'd know. I recommended hm as mod to Moses for precisely that reason.

Looney Wombat. No one takes him seriously.

It's sad to see mental disintegration happening in front of our eyes. I can only suppose the moderators decided to allow you to continue posting as therapy, after your blitzing of so many threads(thirty?) over 24 hours with your tedious "so needy" comment.

I suppose it seemed amusing to you at the time, but it screws things up for others. Still I suppose that it was the best entertainment that you could find to fill the long gap between your offs, and all your lonely meals for one.

Aren't you 2 years late with suggestion? Are you? There are 3 moderators already. And there is "alert system" for to call moderator to any post and topic - red triangle at the left-bottom under each post. After click to that triangle each moderator receives alert to his email and usually arrives at next 2-3 hours.

I have no obligation to read private messages addressed to me nor to answer on PMs. To read and to answer PM - is solely discretion of any user of SGT.
