Erm yeah but nothing is free in Thailand.

Certainly not anything depicted in the video. Even the offerings to the monk cost money.

I suppose a sequence of an elderly sex tourist being led by his smiling young boyfriend du jour to an ATM machine wouldn't quite have fitted the theme of the video, however stirring the background music. I eagerly await the follow-up video 'Be at Ease in the Sleaze'.

Why not? Touch, Enter and Withdraw would have described the farang gay scene in Thailand perfectly.

No footage of bonking in Boyztown, sleeve in Sunnee or jacking in Jomtien?

One doesn't really think of Thailand as a Dyke Destination, but I guess they had to include the girls or be accused of sexism
Why not? Touch, Enter and Withdraw would have described the farang gay scene in Thailand perfectly. When I was in Melbourne recently I was rather taken by their mass transit card slogan, described by a friend as "Touch On, Touch Off, Touch Up" - although officially the third phrase is actually "Top Up"

In Singapore we "tap on" and "tap out" with our Ez-link cards.

Oh puhleese, it's a tourism commercial, not an X-rated sequel to The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.

The slogan surely means free to be oneself and I for one am very impressed with the welcoming attitude of TAT, Already BKK and other places around Thailand sees a massive amount of gays coming to the LOS and long may it continue and increase.

Lets face it, would you rather come to Thailand or travel to Nigeria or a Muslim states?!

Lets face it, would you rather come to Thailand or travel to ... a Muslim states?!May I choose which one? Indonesia can be fun and Malaysia certainly is. I was reading the other day that the followers of Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan are divided between those who want to fuck him and those who want to fuck like him. The Sultan of Oman is unmarried and has strapping young ex-Guardsmen from Britain to attend to his, um, security, although possibly his foibles are less tolerated elsewhere in his kingdom. Tangiers has a well-known history and there's always other places in Morocco (https://www.theguardian.com/travel/2014/oct/20/guide-for-gay-people-visiting-morocco) including Marrakech (https://www.furtherafield.com/blog/advice-for-gay-travel-to-marrakech-morocco/). Weren't some of those French sodomite fashion designers like Pierre Cardin rather fond of Marrakech? A friend of a friend is a male nurse in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and says he has to fight them off, including teenage boys who occasionally turn up at his door demanding some hanky-panky

I should add that the last time I encountered the poster currently calling himself sglad I initially mistook him for an Arab, so one just shouldn't judge by appearance only

Pity no one mentioned to the TAT that the whole releasing sky lanterns is now considered VERY Un PC and toxically environmentally unfriendly due to the damage the landed lanterns can do to wildlife. Nor is seems have their realised the growing displeasure of people around the world at their elephant ride / experience "training" camps, where elephants and broken and beaten until their learn to comply with their trainers orders.

And as for their "hey maybe you could come here and get married to your lovely gay partner.......well, it might be nice if they ACTUALLY made that possible and not just asked gay to "make do" with some half baked but legally meaningless Monk's blessing ceremony - whilst they happily take our money anyway all the time hoping that we don't notice.

So yes TIT all right, full of PR crap as they promote themselves and gouge money, whilst hiding behind their usual fake smiles and "ohh we''re special here as we're Thai you know" thing ....all "as per". Lets them introduce Marriage equality and maybe then they can make a video promoting themselves as a suitable marriage venue for gay people.

I think this is a metaphor for some Thai-farang relationships. The mahout is the Thai and the elephant is the farang (symbolically and sometimes literally). The farang needs to be trained until he learns to be obedient and compliant. And lessons need to be repeated until they are learned; hence some farangs enter into one miserable relationship after another because they haven't learned how to obey and comply.

My friend who works for Emirates loves it there - he has his legs up in the air before they can say Ahlan wa sahlan. :D

The thread title makes it rather sound that this is a new initiative. The video may be new, and even their first, but the gothaibefree.com website was launched several years ago. IIRC it was originally based out of New York and largely targeting gay American tourists. Looking at it now, it seems to have moved to a more generic format and be based out of Thailand. The quality of the content suggest that was probably generated by non-thais though.

There is clearly a large market for gays and particularly couples visiting Thailand that is not really catered to by the prostitution orientated "gay scene" here. Over the years I've seen this as a growing trend in Chiang Mai. Lots of gay people come here to enjoy the ambience and aren't interested in the commercial sex side. They often visit the first bar, have one quick drink then you don't see them again. Nuff said. The exception in CM is RAM Bar with its cabaret show and generally younger customers, which seems to do good business with this type of customer.

the other problem with the ad is the number of gay male tourists who would be more concerned about having to put up with lesbians on their travels than trivial issues such as these

You have a point - as you can trust a lesbian ( couple) to ruin ANY good holiday once you encounter them.....well, that is if they haven't beaten us up first of course for looking sideways at them and not giving them their due respect for actually being better men than us who are just trapped in women's bodies ! :)

OK - the PC "that's not right, you cant say that" brigade - away you go, feel free, get stuck in - I don't care ! That it seems is just the sort of morning I'm having today ! :)

I didn't say GOOD LOOKING mens bodies !!! And seriously ? as some of the Lesbians I see are WAY more butch than half the guys standing (cowering) next to them in gay bars - and have the muscles and shaved heads to prove it ! No shrink required to come to THAT conclusion I assure you.

555 Good one, Nirish! :D

Last November I asked for some directions from this tom standing next to me at Siam BTS station (which can get quite confusing with its multiple platforms) and she just looked straight past me. I repeated my question, again in the most polite Thai I could muster, and she finally murmured a barely audible answer. I thanked her politely but, again, nothing - just a blank steely stare. Her prosthetic penis must have runned out of batteries or something that day.

Definitely there is a sizeable market for gay couples visiting Thailand or single gay males (I wont bother talking about lesbians on this forum) that are not looking for prostitutes. I know a number of gay couples that go there and they only interested in each other. The issue is that in many countries it is still uncomfortable, risky or even outright dangerous to travel as a gay couple. Thailand can benefit from it. Promotional clips like this one only reassures potential visitors that they are safe and welcome. You also have to remember that most westerners never go outside of they traditional holiday spots (California - Florida for US and the Med for Europeans) because they don't know what to expect elsewhere. So the countries like Thailand still have to do a lot of marketing work to convince them.
This forum is mainly frequented by older types that are looking for sex for pay experiences (which are perfectly fine) so I'm not surprised they are looking at this clip from their perspective. After all, the days of Thailand making most of its tourists cash from sex are over - most of it is now made from couples and families, including gay ones.

I have heard that if you are Muslim, Northern Nigeria is not the worst place to have hanky-panky,

I have a pathological fear of lesbians. I'm frightened to look at them for any length of time, for fear that they will turn and chase me. I do, however, harbour a curious interest in what one does to the other and with which de'vice'!

I think I'll stick to Mykonos in favour of Lesbos (home to the largest dungarees factory in Europe). I would not, however, as a rule, support those who might suggest, "Lesbian friendly towards them!"

Thank you, Frequent. I saw what must be as near to a lesbian porn film as is acceptable to the viewing public, aboard Thai Airways en route to BKK. It was called...The Favourite (a film about some old queen)!! Anyone seen it or, indeed, any other films of old queens making out??

Anyone seen it or, indeed, any other films of old queens making out??I find the television series Victoria constantly disappointing. Where are the shots of the Prince Consort's "Prince Albert (https://www.craigpokesu.com/the-history-of-prince-albert-piercing/)"?
