Is heavy handed moderation appropriate for this board?

Much seperates the three remaining gay boards focusing on Thailand, among other things Sawadtee has distinguished itself by the very limited use of moderation, if this changes little if anything will separate this board from the other two, if the only active moderator takes it upon himself to limit what can and cannot be said he does so at the peril of the board. As usual this post will be moved shortly to the dead zone where the hope is no one will read It!

The current Moderators are doing a great job IMHO. I have suggested a couple of actions in the past few days that have been acted on. They are certainly not carrying on the personal vendettas that were evident during a previous regime

I was going to ask the very same question but was waiting to see if the definition of "temporarily suspended" meant hours, days, weeks or until whoever suspended him decided to try and undo that........either way as Smiles says it must have been something "shockingly bad" for the management to suspend such a long standing member.

And lets hope they don't make the mistake of "this can't won't be discussed as it's a moderation issue" as that would be a very foolish way to interact with existing members of course in relation to how they're treating other members, especially as moderation wise the board is running quieter and smoother than it has in several months so one would wonder why the "just leave things well enough alone" thought process wasn't used perhaps instead of Mods creating a problem where it "appears" there wasn't one in the first place ?

The difference btw "banned" and "temp.suspended" = "temp.suspended" will be switched to normal status when suspension time will finished (SG got 2 weeks of suspension). "Banned" means: member never will be switched to normal membership again, ban is permanent.

1. Mods don't report to members: they aren't appointed to moderators by election. They were appointed by me and report to me.
2. Words like "long standing member" and "5300 posts, 1866 likes ... sounds like a rather loyal member" have no sense when we are speaking about penalties: "long standing" and "newbies" should be treated equal.

As I've said before I think you're plain crazy for the way you speak and interact with your members, i.e the same people who actually populate your board with their posts - but hey "up to you" I guess - thankfully we dont have to report to you either of course and most coldn't give a flying fuck about your infraction points or your suspending whims ( myself included) - all I'd say is that we all know another board owner who thought the "iron fist" was a good idea for his board - and just look how that's working out posts wise for him........but as I said "up to you" - you're you're own worst enemy sometimes it seems.

NG, "report" means any explanations why moderator made any his decision. My 15+ years of experience of owning forums shows what it will lead to fights and flames. It's unavoidable. By the same reason rules forbid public discussion of cases of moderation. Here is no space for democracy in moderation. Also it isn't court.

Everything is very easy: follow rules and you never will meet moderation. List of restrictions is very short: Thai Royal family, underage, pure porn, racism, cases of moderation. Keep anonymity and be human. Is it hard? And yes: this short list will be defended by iron fist.

Moses and I have quite civil conversations about every day stuff and Bots and all sorts, however just as if you believe a friend you are drinking with in a bar becomes objectionably rude when talking to people sometime then of COURSE you would point that out to him -I means that's what friends are for isn't it. It is language issue: I'm trying to write as short as possible. Maybe it looks rude, but it leaves the most small gap for misunderstanding. That why I prefer to omit all "bows and curtsy" in favor of understanding.

Following DDs very long and very interesting critique of the entire board and quite a few members I thought I would re-read this. The dramatic language used is a joy, even from those using it against me such as DD himself and Brad. Definitely worth a second viewing as so many threads here are. DD, Brad and anyone else, please feel free to blame me for any and all imperfections you may find on the board.
