I must correct the error in my last post regarding Wombie. I daresay he is turning in his grave after I incorrectly associated his lineage with (New Zealand) sheep.I had just returned from the dentist after having wool removed from my teeth, and was still suffering after effects from the novocaine and indigestion from the sheep-dip at the previous night's woolshed party.
You're absolutely right, of course, there are no New Zealand native mamals, except for the short-tailed bat, the only terrestrial-based mammal in the shaky isles. I am sure you will understand the error, given the similarities between the two:
