Thumbing through trip.com yesterday looking at hotels in Tokyo I noticed a few of them made a point of mentioning black out curtains. This is something that many hotels get wrong with the curtains often being too small for the windows or made of thin material. I have found this to be a common failing, even in some 4 star places.

and all to many airbnb places - I assume IKEA does not sell blackout curtains as many airbnb hosts seem to rely on them for inspiration

Curtains have never been an issue for me, but a friend tests how dark the curtains are before renting a hotel room.

(I on the contrary am sensitive to noise. I once had a look at a hotel room, and from rain hours ago there was still water dropping outside that I could clearly hear in the room, so I went elsewhere.)
