Right, we’ll that’s it, I did warn them that any fucking about with my chocolate supply may lead to be having to rethink my first choice of accommodation location when in Bkk and I arrive only to find a different brand of chocolate in the fridge !!!!! How VERY dare they !!

I’ve called for the manager and the directors of the company to present themselves to me here at 7pm sharp to explain this shoddy switch over and they’d better have a good excuse of face will be lost on all sides I’m sure of it !

On a more serious note and for those that have been reading about “changes” - you can relax, with the exception of one new security guy absolutely NOTHING has changed since my last visit here and in fact as my OCD insists I literally book the same room here each time I stay it literally feels like I just went out for something to eat and came back again as everything I’m my room is EXACTLY where “i” left it ( which is one of the reasons I still come here :-)

But aside from that it’s all clean and presentable and absolutely fine.

Now, so it’s time to open the bedsheets de drawer, move the gideons bible to a suitable place - is out of my sight - and refill said drawer with condoms and lube to balance things out a bit more ! :-)

Ahhh a thread here about our dear old Tarntawan..... it’s been so long ..... :-)

I didn't look in the fridge this time for the chocolate bar, but as soon as I saw the title of your thread I just knew they'd either changed the brand or gotten rid of it completely.

If they've actually gotten rid of it that would constitute the most major change since the new management took over.

The new restaurant and room service waiter is now gone. He told me he got a job in a Five Star Hotel. I think the changes are not quite finished yet but I agree that things have stabilized and I continue to book there.

I think Lonelywombat should be approached to blog about the Tarntawan - he did sterling work with the 'football team stuck in a cave' rescue.

He had SGT readers chewing their fingers to the bone wondering what would happen next (provided they avoided ever turning on the telly or reading any newspaper)

Just think what he could do with Tarntawan-gate.

But will it provide the same Viagra-like qualities that he found in this week's efforts?

Like you scottishguy I have not been to Bangkok for almost 10 years. But again unlike you I come to Pattaya 3 times a year
When were you last in Pattaya? Was the last time when you were followed to Meredian?

As to reading in the newspapers typical normal shit from you . As people in London and the US stated in emails, what was happening in the caves completely missed the morning papers and was stale for the evening press.
My comments were from live comments as they happened.

lonelywombat has discovered a great new local place to buy his incontinence pads. It saves his footman having to lug so many suitcases around. I get my own bespoke, you understand, from one of those Indian tailors on Sukhumvit

Arsenal, you must have been rattled...as it's highly unusual for you to misspell the word "good".
"God" had nothing to do with this.
Secondly, to attribute my motivation as a quest for "some good membership lovin' " brings me down to your level...and that, I can't abide.
The post would have still happened, even if we were the only two remaining members of SGT.
The moving of the post doesn't disappoint me at all...just another day here at SGT.
Carry on old chap.

So, getting back to the actual thread then ....... so I'm pleased to report that as already suggested by others basically there's damn all has changed of any significance at the tarntawan .

There were a few more families at breakfast this morning but the manager who I mentioned that too put it down to a holiday weekend more than any shift in direction. Actually I met one of the directors who was at pains to ask me to pass on that aside from improvements that they've no wish or intention to change things much or loose their valuable existing client base.

So after a great few evenings in Bkk that didn't disappoint on any level I'll certainly be quite happily booking my usual room there for any return trips.

My only complaint (and I've visited three times since the change of ownership) is the loss of some popular members of staff. Three of them I've known for nearly two decades. And they were very upset about leaving. Staff numbers seem to be much reduced. Otherwise it is as Nirish guy says.

I agree with you Oliver re the staff and I had that very conversation with the manager and he too shares that view. For instance the young(ish) guard with the big muscles who normally guarded the lift and the id book who was a lovely guy is gone, the manager actually went back and asked him to come back and stay but he said no. I said "wow, the new owners must be bad for that eh" but just for a non commital response . But I guess it must simply be to do with terms and conitiins and pay etc otherwise why would such long serving staff leave.

Staying that both the remaining staff and the new staff all went extra lengths out of their way to welcome me (back) and it "felt" genuine so that was nice so I think there's still plenty going for the old girl yet for sure.

One of them comes from the same area as my boyfriend and we've always enjoyed a particularly warm welcome from him. When we said goodbye, he was close to tears, telling us that he was going back to his home town.

The guy with the big muscles who worked the lift during the day was a great guy - always friendly and willing to chat.

He was not employed directly by the hotel; he worked for a security company.

I got the feeling he had enough and was very unhappy there after the change in ownership.

Hhmm...is this the guy you are talking about?
I´ve known him for more than 10 years and he told me in Feburary that he will leave the Tarntawan because he coudn´t get any better job there.
He was a most helpful and charming person and we did a lot of talking whenever I was there.

Sorry for the bad image.

I remember his name as Somkuan (my spelling). Happy to see his photo! Thanks for the update on Tarntawan. I tried an airbnb condo last summer, but it is tempting to visit the Tarntawan again! My friend has been using the Tarntawan Place Apartments on the corner, and gives it good reviews also.
