In Thailand the format of both gay and straight establishments has barely changed in living memory, and the broad concepts may well have originated in the PI and got copied in the LoS

There was such a place in Paris when I and 2 friends visited maybe about 2005 - "Le Depot" .

There are already plenty of saunas in Thailand where this sort of activity can take place and unlike farang of a certain age, gay Thai guys (and I dare say other Southeast Asians) don't need a 'venue', a 'scene' or a 'concept' to have fun. Do you know how easily, ubiquitously and frequently casual sex takes place in Thailand, even in the most remote villages? Do you think all those boys and girls attached to much older farang survive by being faithfully monogamous? You are mixing things up. You start with prostitution and then move to saunas, where no money changes hands.

There are plenty of gay saunas in Thailand (over 30, I have been to all of them), but only few of them have glory holes, and I haven't seen any of them in use.

I haven't been in darkrooms in gay saunas in Thailand for a while (not my style), so I can't judge what goes on there.

Dictionary definitions to one side, I have rarely regarded sex in Thailand as prostitution. Prostitution in my book is the grim servicing the desperate. Quality sex with a younger partner, on the other hand, usually involves some transfer of funds, either directly or indirectly, and whether that's in the form of gifts or a few notes tucked into their back pocket as they leave my room in the morning, really doesn't bother me.

Indeed, one of the things I find really negative when on the prowl for a bed mate is the question: 'how much you give me?' - and one of things I really like is the sleeping companion who leaves my room in the morning before counting the money I've slipped them.
