Maybe a stupid question but when I need baths I go to a ATM here. I understand many take your Euros and Dollars from home and exchange them for Thai baths in such an exchange shop? So I am doing it the wrong way?. In stead of using ATM’s I must bring my Euros to Thailand and physically exchange them, that is overall cheaper? Can someone confirm this please.

Bring dollars or euros to exchange in Thailand....local bank atm machines do not give the best rates as well some charge a fee....your bank may also charge a "foriegn tranaction fee".

Bangkok Bank is now charging 220 Thai baht for ATM withdrawals using your foreign bankcard.
And their limit is only 25,000 Thai baht per ATM use.
In USA Charles Schwab Bank does reimburse my bank account each month for any ATM fees.
Otherwise bring your cash and convert at one of the exchange booths shown here for best rates.
Keeping in mind need to safeguard the cash you are carrying.

And therein lies the problem for me. I don't want to have cash with me. It is one of the reasons it has taken me so long to visit Myanmar; it is only recently that they have introduced atm machines in the main tourist areas. Before, you had to carry cash for the entire period of your trip.

The minor differences in exchange rates every day - a baht or two here and there - doesn't bother me. It does piss me off having to pay 220 baht every time I use a atm, but it's a small price to pay for convenience and security.

I bring cash , change it, and then put it into my Thai bank account. No problem with security.

There is absolutely no higher exchange rate in the GBP v THB since January 2017.

Just look at the graph here... average 43 Baht per GBP for at least 1 year, probably 2... https://www.xe.com/currencycharts/?from=GBP&to=THB&view=2Y
