Poster 'Aussie_ ' started a good thread over at Gaythailand regarding a recently opened Issan Pub/Club (similar to Tam Nan Khon Issan in Nth Pattaya). The thread is tucked away in a Pattaya sub-forum over on GT but still has some good feedback on it. Just hoping for some more feedback and to bring it to attention of any members here who don't visit GT. It seems to be getting popular and a serious rival to Tam Nan Issan.

Latest report over at GT by 'gerefan' says that it seems to be non-smoking. While that's a good development as far as I'm concerned it'll be interesting to see if they are able manage to maintain that, given the number of Thai lads who chain smoke in the other Pubs and Clubs.

It's proximity to Sunee and nearer the Jomtien direction of town will be of interest to many who make the journey to TNI at the Nth Pattaya end. It will also be interesting to see if it can attract the gay lads to whom TNI is currently 2nd home.

Any members visited yet?

Yes and as I said No Smoking signs everywhere and obeyed. At least now.
Exactly the same concept as the other two Esan venues except all new.
Well worth a visit and easily walkable from Sunee.
Left about 6 am so no early closing...yet. Unlike the other two.

I'm sure if colmx ever gets out of bed, there's a chance he'll drag me and Ronan to this new place. Walking distance from Sunee sounds good.

Thanks for update. 'Easily walkable' from sunee sounds ideal.

Question or two for those fortunate enough to have already visited......is there a raised level with tables around the venue or is it just flat lay-out, and did anyone notice if Beer Towers were available.....lastly TamNanIssan has good food, any idea regarding the fare at this new venue? Sometimes the Beer Tower and food availability are relevant to Club/fun destination decisions.....

Out of interest.........I assume this new venue at present, until it catches on with the gay crowd/bar boys, is probably more like TamNanIssan Bkk (not far from Silom) where it's very mixed, mostly straight/female with only a few tables of gay lads here and there around the venue, (not that's any reason not to visit) is that also true of Superstar Esan or has the gay crowd established a base there already?

Questions...questions......

Beer towers were available, we had small food and some french fries so not sure about larger dishes or quality. No raised area like Tum Nan Bangkok and not sure about any other level as i had quite a few drinks before arriving at the club. Plenty of gays the night that i went including 10 or more at my table. Many others visiting our table for a chat and a shot of whiskey. It was fairly wild by 430am and i had one guy hugging and kissing me while another was trying to smoke me up the leg of my shorts  The waiter did look a bit suprised as he walked past. As much or more fun as any other club on the night that i went but that depends on the guys you are with and the rest of the crowd i guess. Fortunately for my wallet my friends and others shared the cost of the bottles of whiskey that they drank so not sure of the total bill for bottles, extra mixers and food. Comparable to Tum Nan i would say.

Well you seem to have covered all the essentials for a good time, for me anyway.........like you I tend to have the 'fun' aspect already sorted in the shape of bf and/or friends/boys we choose to go with, but having a place with a good atmosphere adds to it Immensely. Seems to be on a 'par' with TNI which is going to be very handy so close to the Sunee end of town. Your crowd seems to max-out the fun aspect if 'bottles' plural are being mentioned! When on a night out it's often impossible to tell where the money has actually gone in terms of which bill where, especially as you say if it's with friends, other westerners or a 'share' mentality crowd you're out with.

The fact that the gay crowd is already treating it as home territory will be a bonus. Updates appreciated.

"Easily walkable from Sunnee" sounds great but where is it?
Is it on 3rd rd. near the Bali Hi fly over or is it in the road to Jomtien (Tappraya) or is it on 3rd towards Tony's Gym?
@ 3am my sat nav is a bit off kilter.

In my alter-ego of forrestreid, I provided a map showing the location on the GayThailand Forum site.

I tried to post it here as well, but the system won't let me.

You will find it on the relevant GayThailand thread.

As someone who once worked for the Ordnance Survey (the people who make the official maps of the country) what's missing from colmx's graphic is scale. This new club doesn't look like close to Sunee. Are we talking walking distance (10 mins), a short mocy ride or what?

colmx
December 12th, 2017, 14:23
By my estimation it's a 6-7 minute walk from sunee (it's right next to the apartment block I usually stay)

Soi 17/Sip Chet has no footpath though... So it can be a bit of a hairy walk with the Middle Eastern guys racing their motorbikes....

I went last Saturday. Actually still in recovery mode :-)

My opinion:

The place looks bigger and probably is. They had a famous singer that night so we had to pay 100bt entrance pp. A bottle of whiskey was almost 800bt and another 400 both for 3 cola, 3 soda and a bucket of ice.

We also had some finger food. 3 plates, fish, beef an pork. And because I hadn't eaten for at least 8 hours, I ordered some fried rice too. This was another 400bt in total.

Big positive was the loudness (or lack thereof) of the music. Tamnan kon E-san is too loud. There were plenty of gays. I did notice that there were more ladyboys than I'm used to see in Tamnan.

Important, they check ID at the door. Never seen this at Tamnan. This would mean that your 18 or 19-year-old date would not be able to enter. The youngest in my group was 21 so I didn't have to try to slip someone any bt.

I will not judge this place until i visited a couple of times more. I'm a big fan of Tamnan. I even have my favorite table where I sit if possible. I know the menu and know many people, so it wouldn't be fair to compare just yet. Going there alone one night should tell me more.

I had the misfortune of going there twice (in tow of a Farang friend who likes to go to disco). In both cases, we arrived early (around midnight) and I left early (around 1 am) as there was nothing to gain for and even worse, smoking on both occasions close enough so I could smell it.

Christian: Going to a disco at midnight and leaving at 1am is akin to going to a Gogo bar at 19.00 and leaving at 20.00.

I.e. there would be no boys in either location at those times.

After 01.15 is when the pattyaya discos start to fill up... As soon as the boys of BT, JC and Sunee finish work and get their party clothes on

christianpfc

I am aware of that. But there might be non-commercial boys in the disco around midnight. Anyway, I'm not a disco person and those trips were just to have a look without any expectations (and only because a Farang friend invited me), and the smoking alone is a reason not go to again.

Finally, I rather off the boy from the bar around 10 pm and have my well-deserved sleep at midnight; than hunting boys in the disco at 2 or 3 am, where I would have to pay for them the same, but the light is poor and they are not in underwear.

Thanks for the map.
Easy to locate.
Now all I need is the get-up-and go-ness to get down there...and the money to stay there of course

I went this week, after bars closed, so about 2am. Third visit. Full but we got a table. I’ve not witnessed any smoking inside at all. In fact there are signs saying No Smoking and the Thais seems to obey.
Closes at 4 am.
Cheaper than the two other places ( ton man Isann and Ton man shun (spelling)...
Recommended, but don’t go too early or it will be empty.

AFAIK Silapin Isan (At least that how I think its spelled) was raided on Tue night by the BIB, they found patrons under 20 onsite and that they were still open at 4.30
Cant find the news article about it now, but it was all over Facebook.

Apparently its not the first time that the BIB have had to "admonish" them

My guess is that they have been shut for a while?

Thanks colmx. That's actually what prompted me to bump this thread. I noticed various references to what I thought was this venue on one or two facebook profiles but couldn't dig up any English translations to confirm. Was hoping there would be no mention of it being closed for a period of time. Thanks also to gerefan2 for update.

one thing for sure is that they have completely annihilated Tum Nan Khon Isan's business
We went there one night after Hollywood and there were only 4 tables of customers at 2am, when we got to Silapin it was over half full... so I have no doubt that the convenience of the location has attracted the crowds

Isn't that a coincidence, TNI annihilated and then increased in 'raids' on Silapin, their closest rival and the business responsible for their downturn in takings. Well it is Pattaya an goodness knows which 'local businessman' owns/runs which business here.

But it's a pity if it is Silapin who is directly responsible as you would have thought a city the size of Pattaya could support two of these venues, which do have a mixed clientele so not only the gay element in play, as TNI has been a stalwart over so many years. I've never visited TNI where it's been less than half-full so only a handful of tables occupied is a bit of a shock, and if that's during the 'busier' time of year that's a bit concerning. Like some here I know quite a few of the staff at TNI including a couple of the musicians there so I hope trade picks up again.

I would still go to TNI as, like you, we are sometimes at the 'other end' of town and it's a great place to finish off the night, but not if there's no atmosphere. But as you say the convenient location for the BT, Sunee part of town, even from Jomtien is too good to pass up and certainly one of the reasons I was looking forward to visiting Silapin.

Anyone else with recent experiences of Tam Nan Issan to see if there's a pattern?

P.S. Colmx. Did you make it to 'Mask' club during your visit to Pattaya? or is it even still open.

Well if they were shut down it can only have been for 2nights.

I have just been there to check (Thursday 11pm thai time) and post on here. There was hardly any customers there yet, as you would expect at 11oclock, so I spoke to one of the many security guys outside and he assured me it is open. All lights were on and music could be heard but I didn’t go in.

So enjoy new Alan...

By the way TMI was raided last time I was in there about 6 months ago and we were all pee tested. So these raids aren’t uncommon nowadays.

The Mask is closed already
I met Night (old Dave manager that started Mask) and he is now back working at Muze in its new location in Avenue Mall
He says that his boss in Muze is planning to open a gay club in the Avenue (think I saw a post on FB that it was going to be called Infinity)... but I think its some way off opening yet

The Facebook link to Sinlapin Esarn. Good if you can read Thai or translate but plenty of photos including a post showing a packed club on January 10. My Thai friend was there on Jan 26 at 3.00 am before it was closed down. The bar staff and others that i know at Jomtiem Complex and Sunee only want to go to Sinlapin club in recent months.

On a recent Pattaya visit Fr19jan2018 I went again (despite two poor previous visits), and this time it was later (from 1 am on, I didn't feel tired), and there was no smoking inside, and I had quite a good time (a bit of alcohol was involved, I have never been tipsy that early in a year, where will that end?), almost hooked up. Left around 4 am when it was still busy.

There was one Farang and three boys on the neighbor table. All gay, and the one I liked (which might have been mutual) works in a beer bar in Jomtien. He (the cute boy) asked for my phone number and we exchanged Line. But at the end of their stay (around 3 am), the Farang said to the one boy: you go home, then to the other boy: you go home, then to me: you go home, and to the cute boy: we go home. Unless they had planned a foursome from the beginning, there was a 2/3 chance that the cute boy would be free (in the sense of: not occupied, no commitments) at the end of their night, but he wasn't.
