Once again I must apologise to menbers who have logged on expecting to find the latest rant from Gorbals Jock or "oh so needy 'I can't find my pants' post from Baby Joe but anyway...

I had lunch at The Glasshouse yesterday and the bill was 4470 baht. The food was very good. Juicy prawns with broccoli, mushrooms and oyster sauce. The biggest NZ greenlip mussels I've ever seen (4 inches long) baked with a really savoury pesto. The aroma was intoxicating and the taste sublime. Steamed rice and a zingy fresh fresh fresh pineapple smoothie. The food looked so good and the setting so wonderful and me looking like a movie star that a selfie to annoy the folks back home was essential. Trying to capture everything in one picture was tricky so tricky in fact that I dropped the fucking phone. Tukom fixed it (LCD smashed) but it cost 4000 baht. Oh well. Lunch was still absolutely delicious.

Please forgive this interruption to the usual posts on this forum. I'm sure Baby Joe will pop in with some of his endless questions and Gorbals Jock will bulldoze his way in somehow.

You alone managed to drop 4500 baht on a lunch by yourself?

I hope you at least got a BJ out of the deal....

And that was last year. Current website says 5,000 Baht ++ for the Gaggan Experience. Bon appetit.

In 2015, 2016 and 2017, the restaurant was named both the best restaurant in Thailand, and Asia's best restaurant in the list of Asia's 50 Best Restaurants collated by Restaurant magazine. This was an increase from the third spot overall in Asia from in 2014. The restaurant was placed 10th, 23rd and 7th overall in the world in The World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively, and remained the only Indian restaurant to ever place in the top 50.

I did Uncle Len, it was the repair to your phone which cost 4000, the lunch was under a tenner. Good value - the lunch I mean.

So, Len bought a lunch and dropped his phone.

Aren't we lucky he chose to inform us via SGT as (surprisingly) I can find no mention of any of it on CNN, FOX, BBC24, AL JAZEERA or even my current favourite RT

I did and understood that the 4470 Baht included the price of the phone repair. But anything with "447" in it just makes a lot of people wanna puke.

Some years ago I often took a cute Thai who used to hang around Soi 'Twilight' fir a free meal in the outdoor seafood restaurant at the entrance to the Rose Hotel.
The food was great and the bill for 2 would be about 700 baht.
Then one day I met him with a friend.
They were very excited about a new seafood restaurant opened by "new fan mamma me".
I said ok! Let's go!
To cut to the chase the bill I was presented with for a normal meal was 7000 baht which I had to pay.
So that was the last time we ate together.
The scamming little bastard is a motocycke taxi near Boystown in Pattaya now.
We make eye contact often.
