Well, the storm has arrived in the south west of Ireland. Already around 10,000 homes are without power. Schools and colleges are closed, hospital appointments have been cancelled, public transport has been suspended. Apparently this will be our worse storm since 1961. I'm heading to the off license now to stock up on essential supplies!

Well the wind is picking up here in central Dublin, and there are rain showers. I've never experienced a hurricane, so far this is just a bad autumn day. But, we won't mock the Gods!

There are now upwards of 200,000 homes and businesses without electricity. Going to be a long night for some folks.
