Can anyone enlighten me on the arrangements for his late Majesty's Funeral and the implications for everyday and social life thereof?

Thanks.
That answers everything.
Policies on Entertainment issues are being left to the Provincial Governors according to this.

I see the Norwegians are sending their Crown Prince. Any mention of the British representative, arsenal? Who have the Americans lined up?

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, is attending from the UK. The US will be represented by the Secretary of Defence, whose name escapes me.

You knew all along who the British were sending to the cremation ceremony. You were just looking for an excuse to make a derogatory comment about the family at this very sensitive time.

Another "Look at me! Look how brave I am! Look how controversial I can be!" comment.

Yet you know the dire consequences such comments can have on this board in Thailand.

Time for you to look for another board where such comments are acceptable.

Good luck in finding one!

Unfortunately I have to agree with A447. The post I deleted was a very clear, albeit subtle, breach of the rules on this board and the well known laws of Thailand. If we cannot post simple information without the risk of members trying to cause trouble then it's a problem, and it's a problem that A447, Christian and myself will not allow.

Notwithstanding the deleted post.

Christian?

Really?

He's far too sensible to take any of your moderator nonsense seriously.

Nor should he.

If you say so Scottish. I suspect that when you were mod for about 30 seconds you pomped and preened like a delirious cock. Probably even had a badge made.

Is apposite the new word of the day, or something?

Speaking of words, FRM, I'd never heard the word obsequies before. Thanks for the education

Obsequies: I Googled it to get the origin/history. Interesting to see a graph indicating that during the past 200 years it has become almost obsolete.

I think it's the appropriate term for this occasion.

Indeed, it has a very respectful ring to it.

Being just a wee bit pedantic though (as is my wont) in the thread title you describe HM as the "former" King. In my mind, King Juan Carlos of Spain is the former king. HM would be better described as the "late" King. What say you, good sir?

I had expected a turnout of dignitaries similar to that for Emperor Hirohito. I really missed the mark there. No representative from the Philippines or did I miss it?
