Taking a photo

Apologies to all you tech geeks out there but I'm a technophobe. However, you're the guys this question is aimed at. I want to upload (download?) a picture to my Facebook page, but don't have a photo. Can I take a photo on my laptop and upload it? I've no idea how to take a photo on my laptop, btw.

I know this sort of stuff is routine for many of you, but it baffles me. Sometimes, I feel almost as old as bobsaigon. (That's a joke, bob!)
