They do however seem a little over dressed. Whilst girl bands wear short skirts, short tops etc, boy bands always seem to be dressed up like they're about to go on a winter trip to Scotland. Could they not manage some tight shorts & sleeveless shirts ?

Maybe you are referring to publicity shots. As for 'live' performances, these boys expend so much energy heavy winter-type clothing would be impossible. Not sure which band this is but they are more hunky than we usually expect --
