View Full Version : What Thrill do Guys get as Trolls or Hydras or Using Multiple Handles?

I was referring to guys who post with numerous handles. Frequent, aka a dozen other handles, comes to mind.
Surely they are the ones with too much time on their hands. One handle should keep you busy enough on a forum.
a447 made this point on Where is Everyone thread and I feel it deserves one of its own.

I agree with a447's basic premise. But I also cannot understand the reason for anyone bothering to have multiple handles even when they are able to get round each Board's security systems. I guess it can't be so difficult since Sglad managed it for quite a while here before he started spouting idiotic falsehoods and being outed as a hydra along with his alter ego Sugargrandpa. Yet I wonder. Would this jerk have been outed had it not been for the trap which i laid for him and which then forced Sugargrandpa to post and ask the question that Sglad simply could not - for the simple reason that would immediately expose him as certainly not being Singaporean and, even more, certainly not a young Singaporean.

Yes, I accept I was taken in by Sglad at the outset when several others saw through him. What, though, is it that makes people wish to deceive so openly? To me trolls and hydras are nothing more than schoolyard bully types whose objective is destruction rather than construction. They think they're the bees knees when in fact they deserve to be booted out as snivelling brats.

We all know what happened with Beachlover. Frankly, I have little idea of his history on this Board, but I saw it all on gaythailand. His initial posting whereby he dredged up long dead threads and added one-liners was pretty pathetic, and yet no-one tagged him as a troll. Even when the fake persona of the young Asian businessman took a few knocks with obvious untruths, the moderators on gaythailand actually believed him! We were told that the IP address was in Sydney and everything matched. Even the blacked out photos so there could be nothing to identify him were so patently obvious - but still the owner/moderators not only believed him but wrote that the best trip report ever read on their site was of BL's trip to Siem Reap! And this was even when inaccuracies had been pointed out!

Maybe moderators/owners like the odd troll, despite what they say, because it keeps interest in the Board developing. I don't actually believe that, but I have heard it said.

And whilst on the subject, why have different names for different sites, as we know some have. There is clearly a reason. But if a poster is not prepared to be frank and open about his posting identity wherever he posts, what credence can one give his posts - under whatever name he chooses to make them?

Don't see anything wrong or suspicious on this point. I have different names on different forums but have no ulterior motive for it. On some forums if you don't log in for a long time you may need to re-register and then may find the old user name or password is not accepted as it's already taken so you have to come up with something else. I started as Steve1903 on all forums but now Captain Kirk on GB's board and Tiktak elsewhere. Means nothing, doesn't make one a troll.

Fountainhall. Remember that many of the posters (mainly GB) actually know each other and socialise and so might want to hide their identity if they want to say something. The Sunee Set are old, humungously obese and decrepit but also a notoriously unforgiving crowd who much like the Amish shun those they disapprove of.

arsenal, true that some posters know each other and may want to hide their identity if they wish to post something. But not true about being old, obese, decrepit and unforgiving. How would you even know that ?

some with narcissistic personality disorders can't conceive that their every thought is not
important and they tweet and repeat endlessly. Bad wiring in the brain and best ignored.

Francois: My apologies. I meant to say The Sunee Set are vigorous of body, firm of flesh, sprightly of motion and to a man display the forgiving nature of a benevolent God. Three cheers for all.

Arsenal your assessment is very accurate....They are 99% old boring hideous for the most part Americans that kling to eachother as no one else will...I believe it is referred to as "water seeking its own level, I neglected to say notorious penny pinchers in a world borded on one side by Sunee Plaza and occassionaly the other side Boystown. I did say 99% as the other 1% is made up of an old fat hairy creature from Austraila that once upon seeing his body a massage boy on he the beach said basically "no way in hell" and an Brit boring even by their ultra low standards.

I've been going to Sunee for 13 years Francois. And in that time I've seen a lot of people and spoken to a lot of bar owners and a lot of farangs. That's how I know. Also, as I have said privately to other members, I believe that what has been written on the boards a has had a real detrimental affect on personal relationships in the bars. Hence the different handles.

sarsenal, I have going to Sunee and Boyztown for 17 years and have met many decent, friendly people from around the world. Yes, there are a number of odd balls but that makes the place interesting. :devilsh:

And if you need evidence of the above just look towards the current incumbent of White house ! :-(

Clearly it enables one to say something that ordinarily one wouldnt dare....or if one like to be mischievous by playing devil's advocate.
