They're planning to check all 1000+ hotels, and there's only 239 licenses. If true, sounds like Pattaya will be running short on hotel rooms soon.

Do you seriously think they will close 76% of the hotels in Pattaya?

Do you seriously think they will close 76% of the hotels in Pattaya?

did you even bother to read the article? they said those places that satisfy the building standards and other license requirements will be allowed to apply for a license to continue operating which means they will only be closing 75% not 76%

and given they have already solved the problems with beach concessions, jet ski scams, baht bus rip-offs and the traffic chaos this is the next problem that needs to be solved so that Pattaya can finally become the family-oriented and high class tourist destination that it was always meant to be

Well, from you guys post, sounds like tea money from the bars is drying up. With over 750 hotels running without a license, that seems like a good, new income source. Can't afford to pay? Shut down, and I imagine that's a gonod number of them.

Well, if you can't run it as hotel, just re-open it as a guest house! Problem solved!
