Heavy downpours in the norther provinces of Nan and Phayao and in Myanmar have triggered severe flooding, just in case you are considering traveling into these areas in the near future.

I am indeed planning to travel to Phayao next week.

Geographical side note: Nan and Phayao provice border on each other and on Laos. If there is flooding in Nan and Phayao and in Myanmar, the Nan and Phayao flooding is not connected to the Myanmar flooding.

Nan often floods; as the rivers mainly run north to south flooding in Nan and Phayao are quite separate. Article only refers to Pong in Phayao Province which is in a large valley to the east of the main Phayao city valley. Haven't seen reports of flooding in Phayao city.

Hope you enjoy Phayao, but don't spread the word too much. Phayao is one of those fantastic hidden places that most farangs don't know about. Nice to keep it that way. ;)
