Hi, just a quick heads up for those in Thailand. There have been several small bomb blasts, one last night in Hua Hin and again this morning in Hua Hin, Surat Thani, Phuket and Trang, two killed and several injured so far. Richard Barrow on Twitter is blogging the latest news on this. Sad news.

My condolences to those affected.

This is probably too soon, but the General is going to love this.

Absolutely. Another great reason to stay in power longer as of COURSE he couldn't hand over whilst all this is going on !

Also if the bombers wanted to hit tourist trade I think they succeeded as I was shocked on reading various social media sites just HOW many people were messaging each other to cancel plans, change bookings, say "ok, fuck that, no WAY are we going to Thailand now" - if the locals through my it was low season already they might be in for a shock for a few months yet it seems.

Obviously deepest sympathy for victims and families.

On the tourism front - unless it all ramps up big time and flights are cancelled, it won't affect my upcoming plans. More likely to get killed crossing the road in Glasgow city centre

Yep. It won't stop me going either.

If I'm brave enough to cross Pattaya 2nd Road (particularly when the tour buses are leaving Mike's), then you can be damn certain that a few bombs won't deter me. Thailand remains a destination safer than most, despite the efforts of the Generals to stir-up trouble.
