Overall investment in Thailand, as projected by the Board of Investment, is expected to drop by half this year to 400 billion baht due to the prevailing poor economy, according to Chakramon Phasukvanich, the permanent secretary for the Industry Ministry.

The BoI made the projection based on the total investment value of applications seeking promotional privileges in the first six months of the year, down 53% from a year earlier to 183 billion baht.

Well it may be that the Thai economy overall is doing quite well. It may be that other currencies are weakening. It may be that the baht was undervalued. Inward investment has fallen but that's not unexpected in a time of political uncertainty.
