As some of you already know I'm webmaster of siamroads.com. I have similar thread at GT quite long time.

This thread will be used for to update info and to introduce to you new destinations, news and boys. Some of members already are their clients and are welcome to write feedback. Questions are welcome also (here or in PM).

Here in thread I will use word "we" which will means "me and boys, our team". With time boys will register personal accounts here also and you will have possibility to talk with them.

2 notes:
- my English is quite poor
- if you will find this topic boring - just skip it :)

How it started.

About 8 years ago me and BF were in Bangkok near Wat Arun and got trouble in communication with seller of tickets at pier. Next in line boy helped us to buy ticket and late we found him at the same boat. We had chat, he told his name is V. he si student of tourism and hospitality faculty in UNI, and rest of the day he spend with us for to show Bangkok. Then was dinner and after dinner V. gave us his phone number in case we will need assistance in future. He declined to take money for help.

We made call to him over a day and V. agreed to spend day with us in zoo and evening in Silom area, where then we found he is gay also :) We gave each other profiles names at Romeo. When me and BF were in our country in chat at Romeo V. told what he wants to start guiding for practice and for to earn some pocket money. As a gift I made website for him to his birthday. You can see it at http://bkk-tours.com/ But V. already is moved out since he is living in UK. Before leaving Thailand V. introduce us his friend L. who has been glad to be part-time guide also :) So I made small changes at site - phone number, facepic and kept site on-line.

to be continued ...

Moses

I'll continue:

In 2.5 years L. finished UNI also and left Bangkok for to work in family business at the South of Thailand, but before his leaving L. gave us "new contact" :) It was Samit - you can see him at old site. Also shortly after Samit's start we met in Om Yim guesthouse very professional receptionist Ya, who also made decision to join bkk-tours.com for part-time work. Since that time team of guides started to grow: one by one Ohh, Gus and Mac joined team in Bangkok, Nick in Pattaya (here is different story, may be I will tell it at another time).

Now small teaser:

in few days we will announce new location. To follow this thread please use "Thread Tool" on the top of this topic - white menu right on top of first post - and click "subscribe" :)

Yaya got nice reference from recent client:

Ya has been my guide and companion for the last 4 days and I could not be more happy with his services. He is a very knowledgeable person both in history and in showing the right spots according to my wishes. He has also included me in several outings to dinners, bars and clubbing, all feeling very close to hanging out with a mate. And finally, he has always been available with quick replies whenever I have been in need of some advice. I wholeheartedly recommend Ya as a companion/guide.

Ya is a wonderful guide with a huge amount of local and historical knowledge that he loves to share with great passion.

Ya devised a personalised trip for me based on a few ideas I had for spots off the beaten track. He took me to places I wouldn't have been able to find without him such as hidden temples, the old city, an authentic Pad Thai shop with tamarind noodles and a walk along some amazing khlongs.

Don't hesitate to book Ya. You'll feel like you're exploring the spectacular city of Bangkok with a friend. I'll contact you when I'm next in Bangkok

Ya! Thank you again.

When this guy does get hired, I suppose he's getting several times the Vietnamese average daily salary. And good luck to him for showing some initiative.

Personally, I'll make do with google, LP and my gps phone as travel guides. $35 a day saved.

One year ago I already answered to such reply :) So I will just copy and paste :)

Guides are not for navigation :) Also they are not only guides, but concierge, translators and "scam protectors"
Google maps can't show you interesting places (at least can't suggest) if places aren't on main "touristic roads", it can't tell you "avoid this crowded place", can't say on local language "I insist to use meter" in taxi, can't call to local theater and reserve seat, and for sure can't offer to spend 2-3 days in real local village home :)

With navigation you can easy find place if you know about him, but navigation can't help you when you don't know about that place exist, also navigation nor google map can't help you to plan visits.

I used SiamRoads for guide service in May in Bangkok and will meet up with Ya in September for a trip to Pattaya. He's meeting me at th airport and will give me a part day overview and then let me go on my own. Mac was my guide in May and did an excellent job. Ya had been detailed in making the arrangements for the May visit and the upcoming September visit.

For someone who is capable of that type of work, $35 per diem is not an outrageous amount here in Vietnam. Sure it's more than most people make, but most people aren't good looking, able to interact with foreigners or provide extensive and reliable guide services. It's still early days in the Vietnamese tourism sector and having someone like Phi on hand would be a very pleasant way to explore the country.

Without saying too much about at least one of your companions I think you might want to change that to "our companions are not obliged to provide any sexual service" :-) - but hey, if they chose to do so, so what, why not, thats their choice of course. I'm not suggesting by the way that that is the purpose of your travel service Moses, I'm SURE it's not ( and I really mean that) but of course what happens between a guide and a customer once the days touring is complete, well, that's totally between and up to themselves of course I would assume :) - but it just shouldn't be "expected".

latintopxxx
September 25th, 2016, 05:45
reading a bit more into this the service appears to be excellent and something I would definitely avail myself of. brsides even if no sex is involved it would be nioce to spend time with a good looking guy. Not long ago i did a bicycle tour of Bangkok including some slums, we even crossed the river to some real rural land, the bike company (owned by a Dutchman) supplied the tour guide. He was stunning and upon realising that we were all gay (I was there with my partner and 2 gay friends) he made it known that he was available for extra services.

Blueskytoday
September 25th, 2016, 07:36
NIRISH GUY...Your right...I totally agree with you...But, the guides are gay...The owners of this service have NO idea
what goes on between the guides and the customer...whether some type sex is involved or not...maybe they WANT to enjoy together
for free,,or if money is involved...that is life.....but to say the guides DO NOT engage,,is just not proven.....anyway, just my thoughts,,,

I am sure the wording on the site is essential to fulfil certain legal requirements - or at least to avoid any possible difficulties with officers of the law! I'm sure also the guides are perfectly capable of saying 'no' pr 'yes' depending on what they would like to do. In any case, with their local knowledge, they will be able to get their patrons to bars and clubs where others will be able to satisfy their desires.

Nirish guy
September 25th, 2016, 15:38
I'm sure you're spot on there FH. Ha although re your "I'm sure they can direct you " etc etc, I might perhaps be more concerned that the LAST thing some would want to do is to direct you to the (gay) bars / best pick up joints just in case they lose THEIR customer ! :-)

But just like the guides I'm sure we''re all seasoned travellers and well enoughto know when we're being played along for someone else's own purposes - aren't we ? :-)

( The above IS just a light hearted remark by the way and not a slant on any of Moses tour guides, one of which at least I am sure will take very good care of you if you ask and play nicely :-)

Having hired gay tour guides times in different cities, I've found them uniformly knowledgeable and entirely professional on company time. Off the clock, and at my own invitation, it has been a different story. But that has been as much the case with straight tour guides, as well :-)

This was my first time in Asia, so I decided to get a tour guide because I wasn’t sure what to expect.

I’m happy I did! Not only did we do touristy things, but Mac completely submerged me into his culture. He showed me where the locals hang out, all the hotspots. Mac is completely knowledgeable about all the landmarks and sites. He knows where all the deals are if you are looking to buy things. It paid for itself with the amount of money we saved in cab fare alone.

I’m glad I got meet Mac and I can’t wait to go back! The people are wonderful, the food is amazing, and overall I made a friend!!!

At next message I want to ask you to pay attention to some our rules. They have been announced at the beginning of operation, but better to remind:

- all payments must be paid in local currencies, boys don't accept any other currencies nor bank cards. Exception is Cambodia, where US dollar is in use widely. No euros, no dollars, no pesos or ringgits or rupiah. And no checks. Cash in local currency please.
- even when you order multi-day tour, you have to pay to companion every day at the end of each day for that day

Thank you for understanding.

PS: if my announce sounds too much strict, please excuse me: it is just a side-effect of my limited English :)

Best is student of college (public health), languages: Thai, English. Best is living in Pattaya with family and at free time woks in family guesthouse. He is quite new to guiding, so at next few moths don't expect from him academical knowledges of Thai history.

The most strong point of Best is - he is living in Pattaya from birth and knows "almost everything" about city and is able to show "city and around" to you. Also Best is good for to show to you nightlife.

Mr Moses - good luck with the new layout. I wondered whether you were going to change the name at the same time as your website refresh. Siam Roads strikes me as a rather odd, misleading and uninspiring name for the website. Siam ceased to be the name of Thailand 68 years ago and in any event is just one country where out of 6 where you have attractive gay companions for hire. Siam Roads sounds like a municipal government department for the maintenance and upkeep of Thai roads prior to 1948!

I haven't met any of your guides yet but hope to on future travels and wish you well with the venture. Perhaps members of this forum could come up with suggestions for a punchier and more relevant and memorable name for the venture?

fountainhall
January 22nd, 2017, 17:07
Titles are always problematic. A few posters have suggested this site's title be changed. After all, to the uninitiated sawatdeenetwork probably sounds much more like a radio station in the middle of Sarawak!

I do tend to agree that anyone coming across Siam Roads on google search might pass it by - unless they read the description. I once had a tour organised by an agency called Connecting Asia which I thought quite appropriate until they totally fucked up the next one I got them to organise! Disconnected from the customer unfortunately.

Asian Adventures could be quite appropriate, but it has already been taken and Siam Roads does not cover all of Asia. Anything with Fun in the title conveys the wrong idea. Anything with Tours or Travel implies a full service agency - wrong again. On reflection I am won over to plain Siam Roads. After all the Guides are knowledgeable and so learning about the history of places is part of the experience they provide. And what a rich history! And Roads can also imply roads out of Siam/Thailand. In any case, the sub-title "Your Holiday Guides and Companions" makes it all pretty clear.

Good luck with the revamped site, Moses!

Some of the older buildings are very narrow with shelter things on top and that suggested Vietnam to me. The size of the city and the skyscrapers suggested either Hanoi or HCMC. And the ZEN sign on the building to Max's right says the latter. When I was in HCMC I used Planet Romeo to meet a man every day outside Ben Thanh market and take him back to my hotel. I would use Hornet now. Vietnamese men on the apps are very willing and tend to be less sophisticated than in Thailand. And with wages low a decent cash 'present' from visitors is much appreciated.

A question from me:
If I go to HCM city could your handsome guide there hook me up with a nice 18-28 companion for fun. Or maybe bring me to a location which has such guys?
I went there last year and I didn't have any fun but I did have a good time otherwise.
It was most frustrating to have to wade my way through flocks of willing females and their touts after 8pm.
If he can help me this way I will take care of him and I will do the culture stuff myself.
Thanks.

SiamRoads's guides in every represented country know local gay scene. They aren't pimps, so please don't expect they will search for willing body for you, but they are able to show you local gay areas/bars/saunas/etc and will help in translation in case you will need it.

I was one of the last of Yaya's tours before he took a break for the slow season. I think from talking with him that he was looking forward to staying in the same place for an extended period of time. Probably tired of airport lines!

I have had Mac as a guide several times. I highly recommend him. He is sweet, knowledgeable and very helpful. He organised trips to Ayutthaya, kanchanburi and the khlongs, very efficiently and at a good price. He speaks excellent English and is a pleasure to be with. He has had a tough time so I hope all goes well for him.
